Posted July 8, 200718 yr What a really, really good show this is. A pretty fantastic modernization of Robert Louis Stevenson's seminal horror classic "The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde". I hope Dr Who fans are showing interest as it's being scripted by Steven Moffatt who, for my mind, writes by far the best Dr Who episodes ("Blink" and "The Empty Child" two parter being particular faves of mine..). James Nesbitt is doing an absolutely sterling job in the title role, and I am impressed with the subtleties as far as make-up go, previous films had portrayed Hyde as being this sort of hairy, ape-like creature, whereas in this series he is actually far more charismatic (but still incredibly dangerous psychologically), and the physical differences are much more subtle and minimalist (mainly the eyes and the hairline), relying much more on Nesbitt's actual interpretations of both characters and he is interpreting them rather well indeed... I sincerely hope a BAFTA nomination to be heading his way, a seriously under-rated actor who deserves a lot more respect IMO... And, what a missed opportunity indeed on the part of Russell T Davis and the other Dr Who producers, surely Nesbitt would have made a FAR better Master than John Simm in the recent Dr Who series finale.....
July 8, 200718 yr I watched the first two episodes of this. and it was Excellent i must say :D The acting is extremely good imo. Something that Tv Drama's dont have alot of these days.
July 8, 200718 yr This is really good, I've seen two random episodes of this. One of them, the one where he ends up in a lion enclosure, completely stuffed up that night's revision. It was amazing ^_^ My mum's taped the most recent episodes for me, I might watch them when I can be bothered
July 8, 200718 yr I watched the first 2 episodes but i've been away when the last 2 have aired so i've missed them. But it's a good show. I studied the book at GCSE level and I think the TV adaption of this is great spin on the book. Some of the acting's really top notch and you can really tell Jekyll and Hyde apart when Nesbitt is in character for them both.
July 19, 200718 yr I have all the episodes recorded, as I keep missing it, and forgetting to watch the second half of the first episode. It looks so great though, so I'll have to forse myself to start watching. :P
