So, if Brendan's heard it, then I would imagine it's pretty much completed then.

I'm happy if it's in FC style, sorry, KO wasn't a favourite for me.

Here's hoping it has a corker lead single that is loved by the general public just like LRN. KO is my fav album but along the lines of FC will still do nicely. :D Bet when we hear it it sounds like neither. :P

I've just had a thought, I wonder if Brendan has actually sung on this album. I know Will's backing singers only ever appear at the gigs, but it's possible Brendan and maybe some of the others have done 'live style' tracks for Will and that's how he knows about the style of it.

Have to wait & see

That would be superb. I love Will's backing singers - and the band. I feel it would be great if they all could be on the album instead of the session musicians and singers.

& Will himself isn't sure what style it is.

I don't think either of the last two have any particular "style" have they. Can't get much more diverse than "Happiness" - (Bossa Nova) and Home - haunting falsetto ballad.

If he called his new one" Crudites & Humous - lots of little bits" god alone knows what we can expect. Don't know whether he was referring to the fact that it's not yet been put together or that it's a mix of styles and beats.

No what you mean although they are still very different. KO for me is more a body of work with a theme running through & although I think FC is a great album too, for me it isn't as coheseive or Will if you know what I mean.

I agree he generally has a "theme" but every song is slightly different beat/rhythm-wise to the previous which I like, because it means that there's no risk of one song running into the next. I suppose this is where his collaborations all come into play - his musicians all input their own styles with Will's vocals overlaying and personalising the lot. I'm happy with that because I've found some "singer/songwriters" have fallen into a rut and start duplicating beats and rhythms but with different lyrics.

I think that's where the Beatles came up trumps because John and Paul both had their own sound but when combined produced some awesome songs.

I know Will doesn't play any instrument enough to accompany himself ,but that's not to say he doesn't understand music and knows instinctively what he hears is either going to work or isn't. He sings so knows all about chords/keys/registers,tones, etc. etc. etc. His voice sometimes echoes the sound of a musical instrument. He produces melodies and writes lyrics. No different really from any other songwriting team.

Great post munchkin.

I do remember Q mag remarking re KO Album, that what Will needs to find a great song (it appeared that they discounted LRN) and that in the reviwers opinion Will had not found himself through the songs he wrote, or words to that affect, sorry, do not remember the exact words.......whereas, IMO I think he certainly found himself in the KO Album. Not sure how relevant my post is, just wanted to share that Will loved Happiness but it was not written by him, whereas, Cry, was, and in my opinion that should have been an A side....sorry again, I think I am going off track................so, once more mucnhkin, great post, thanks a lot for sharing your views.

OS update 30/11 :D :cheer:

As you know, Will is still working on the new album but we know that you're always eager for an update as to the state of play.

Here's what he had to say when we caught up with him recently.

'It's all good, we're getting there slowly, deciding the tracks. We've got a whole load of material already but I'm still writing all the time. I've enjoyed making it so far and it feels so focussed.'

Wonder if Will will have more writing credits on the new album?

It sounds so real now :o

Can't believe he'll be back soon

Can't come soon enough  ..i've missed him.

Loved reading this post from OrlandoBelle on Devoted.

DJ this morning mentioned Will as one of the 'hot' new music albums to listen out for in 2008
