Thanks Tillywhim, although I do remember him being on the release schedule for September before FC and that ended up as the end of November.

Thanks Tillywhim - possible single in August :cheer: :yahoo:  :w00t:

He did say last year that he would be panicking if he didn't have any songs by August - he just didn't specify WHICH August

Seeing as the very first release date on that list is wrong (Sandi Thom is definitely releasing may 26th) then personally, I set no more store by Sept being correct than any of the other rumoured dates we've had so far . :(

I'm not sure either but I'm really happy that he seems to be on his way back to the music scene.

I'm just hopng we aren't going to get two single releases before the album.

I'm wondering if that's exactly what might happen. Usher has a single out now and his album isn't due until June, so it looks like he'll have a two singles pre album set up, and he's a huge artist, AND he's already done the same in the US. ;)

If it's Sept, do you think we'll be getting a winter tour or a theatre tour in the spring? or we might even get both. :w00t:

I would like to see him do a small theatre tour running alongside the album promo & then an arena tour in 2009.

Thanks for the info re Usher Marguerite. I'm surprised as I always thought it was only artists who were testing the water so to speak who did this.

I could live with two as long as we get more than the usual three from Will's albums although I suspect later ones could be download only. I just don't want the promo to be all over before it's even got started. KO's promo alll seemed so rushed. All done & dusted in little over 6 months.

Hopefully, they'll be planning for a longer time span for this album TT, like you say, it was all a bit rushed last time and with there being no 4th single, it fizzled out before it really should have done imo. I'm sure Keep On could have got those extra 40k sales needed to get the million. Mind you, with the downloads from 4 months and SA sales not showing up, he's probably managed it by now. :D

Iscagill on D has said that Will told someone when he was at PASW in Exeter that the album would be "later in the year" - so September would quite possibly fit that.

Yes, it might, but I'm prepared to wait and see what the official line is, rather than accept that release schedule which already has one glaring error on it. :D

And as I've said over the road, I can't believe that Will would not take the first opportunity he's had in 6 years, to play outside his usual pop genre, to promote NEW material that hasn't at least had some exposure to the public beforehand.

I maybe completely wrong of course, maybe he'll risk it and debut completely unheard new tracks at these festivals, maybe he'll just do tracks from his back catalogue, which I think would be a massive mistake, as I said above, I'm prepared to wait and see. :D

so am i ...i hope this date is wrong  and i agree i think he needs to take advantage of the festivals and use that to the best advantage :)

So are you thinking May/June then? He did say this not too long ago and I can't see that a mid-year release would fit in with his comment. As we know he's still recording "back-to-back" and then has to produce a video and arrange promotion. I can't see all that happening over the next two months. A September release would allow 4/5 months to do this.

He showcased Alibi of Love and Time Enough at Killerton telling us they were album tracks. He could do the same at the festivals - using tracks that didn't make the cut or possible reserves as 'B' sides. . No-one would be any the wiser.

But that might please WY fans, but when i have been to festivals in the past and saw an artist that i was not particular a fan of...i have been bored when they played tracks i did not know ...in fact i usually used the opportunity as a toilet break

Exactly. Will is playing to a brand new audience, something he perhaps thought he'd never have the chance to do. He, I hope, has moved on since he wrote KO. He doesn't want to introduce this new audience to his old stuff, he wants to say, "Oi, look at me, this is what I'm all about now". And if he does that, before he releases his new album, I think he's making a huge mistake. He needs to get his new stuff out there and promote it when people are able to buy it, not months before when they've probably forgotten about him and what he sang at TITP. ;)

So, if I was a gambling woman ;) I'd say he'll have this album out in June. He'll have done an album launch. Hopefully good things will have been said about his new stuff and the audience at TITP will have already heard the new lead single over several weeks of airplay, and be responsive to what else he might have on the album :D

Have you ever thought about applying for the job of his business manager Margeurite - that sounds like the perfect plan to me :D

Just seen this posted by Sunday ( ;) ) on D:

27 March - Eerie or what? I rang the radio station just after 3pm & asked if I could go down to practice what we'd covered last night, & the station manager said there was some free time until 4pm. So I rushed around to get myself dressed & down there, & who did I bump into ON MY ROAD, in the space that takes all of 3 minutes to walk between my house & the radio station?

Will Young!!!

I've never ever been a starstuck person, but I love his voice, so I was going all gooey with him sitting in his car in front of me wondering why this daft woman was simpering like Mavis Riley. He was coming out of the equipment hire place that's part of the studio I'm planning to use, the one I found myself in a few weeks ago. I got his autograph, & when I told him my stage name he thought it was a fantastic name for a singer. I'm annoyed that I didn't have any business cards with me, but I'm going to do some at the weekend & see if they'll let me leave them there for anyone needing a session singer. I would love to work with Will if the opportunity came up.

Floated to the radio station on air, & told the station manager, who was suitably impressed. I topped off the day by getting longer to practice in the studio because someone else cancelled at the last minute - I really appreciated it, & by the end I was really getting used to the mixing desk. I wouldn't mind getting a small one for myself - I'll see if I can find a decent second-hand one. I'm allowed to go in tomorrow to observe two DJs working on two different shows - not everyone likes having someone in the studio with them, so I'm very pleased to get a chance with two.

So if that's the case is he getting equipment for his launch/promo or for the festivals.... or both

If your thinking is right then he is already well along with his post production - video shoot, promo material, rehearsal time, guest TV appearances etc. with just 9 weeks to the beginning of June. Perhaps the article in the Waitrose mag was part of that.

It all really depends on Will's definition of "later"

Edited by munchkin

Also - I've just been thinking about him hiring equipment - if that is what he was doing -. He won't have his usual band members available during May and into the first week of June if he promotes then because they are touring with Girls Aloud. He'll have to use other musicians. But he should be ok for the festivals.
Well if you look at the release schedule in Chart Forum some of the dates are the same and some aren't - also some names are not on BJ's list - like Kelly Clarkson.
