November 9, 200717 yr taken from an interesting interview with universal mucic publishing :D Given your strategy, how many songs do you place in a year? Lisa Cullington (Universal Music Publishing): On average, we place around 50-60 songs in a year, which is what we placed last year as well. Okay, so then to place these 60 songs how many did you present to A&Rs or managers? Lisa Cullington (Universal Music Publishing): To place 60 songs we sent out approximately 100 songs. That clearly indicates that you're very selective in what you pitch, which is very important to know. What are you currently working on? Lisa Cullington (Universal Music Publishing): We're working on a number of projects including Will Young, Kylie Minogue, Pop Idol Germany, as well as some French artists and a few classical cross-over projects. http://www.myhitfactory.com/features/inter..._cullington.htm

November 12, 200717 yr I would have thought we will hear the release date any day now  looked back on some posts from another site and we knew the release date of KO at the beginning of july 2005............ four and half months before [didn't realise we knew that early :o ] it was on the HMV site . so going by those dates four and a half months from now would be the beginning of April.

I would think that there're a few artists (or their labels) who are waiting to see who commits to a date first. ;) Dido, Madonna and Robbie are all on the NRS. so maybe although we know roughly when, the exact date won't be announced 'til the last minute.

You could well be right Marguerite but I'd still love a preliminary date even if it is changed. Would make it seem closer somehow. :) I suppose it could be depend on whether Will is pitching his album for one of the big selling Spring dates  as I feel sure that is when the others will release.

It's going to all depend on when the label want to release though isn't it? I would have thought that with Will having a predominately female fan base with a fair share of over 30's in the make-up, that it might have been aimed at mothers day. That would mean a 25th Feb release for the album, an important date for him anyway as it'll be the 6th anniversary of Evergreen's release. I suppose there's a lot to be considered though, promoting on available tv shows, magazines etc. It's not just simply pick a date, any date is it? :D
