Posted April 28, 200619 yr Big Apple now sour for Delta April 28, 2006 LESS than a year after she set out to steal her slice of the US market, Delta Goodrem's bite out of the Big Apple has turned decidedly sour. While locally she may be considered a national treasure, Goodrem has failed to capture the attention of the US public and, consequently, times have never been more financially challenging. Confidential understands Goodrem and her Irish boyfriend Brian McFadden have been forced out of their base in New York as they can no longer afford the massive rent they have been paying. The pop duo decided to quit Britain in order to make it big in the US, but it appears things haven't exactly gone to plan. "It was frustrating," the former Neighbours starlet told the UK press this week. "I couldn't afford to keep living in America and not have the album out. "A lot of people just spend all their time there trying to make it but it's a big place." Goodrem's hit song Together We Are One may be topping up her pocket money pile thanks to its No. 5 position on the ARIA chart, but the singer has not even come close to making a similar impact on the US charts. Despite Goodrem's frank admissions, her record label Sony BMG said they "hadn't heard anything" about the pop princess leaving New York. A record company spokeswoman also denied reports that Goodrem and McFadden were returning to Sydney to set themselves up as a songwriting team.
