I've been out of the loop lately, so I was just wondering if you have any decent tunes to recommend me?

this is what teletext say, ther good for indie normally:

New singles, by John Earls

JARVIS COCKER Fat Children 8/10

The obvious single from his album, Jarv does his Jamie Oliver bit, railing at a gang of fat muggers with a tune packed with an energy belying his own spindly frame. A terrific feisty rant, made for vintage limb-flinging in concert.

ALI LOVE Secret Sunday Lover 4/10

Having redeemed himself on the Chems' single, he's back to generic disco with cliched "Lucy In The Sky" lyrics. No better than the average Tong fare.

NINE BLACK ALPS Burn Faster 8/10

An intriguing band, they come hollering back from a quiet year with Sam Forrest as intense and troubled as ever, despite the music's more embracing, power-pop vibe. Mind you, they could do a nursery rhyme and sound brooding.

LIGHTSPEED CHAMPION Galaxy Of The Lost 7/10

Previously part of dreary shock-tacticians Test-Icicles, Dev Hynes turns in a moody country strum like Howe Gelb in a sulk. Not at all bad.

THE THRILLS Nothing Changes Around Here 8/10

A title inviting obvious barbs, as it's still redolent of summer. But when the song has a beautiful, uplifting melody like this, cynicism drifts away along with the world's cares.

THE RAKES The World Was A Mess But His Hair Was Perfect 7/10

Rarely has a band fallen out of favour so quickly. Shame, as the brittle guitars and Alan Donohoe's wry delivery make for an engaging, pristine floorfiller.

THE BRAVERY Time Won't Let Me Go 5/10

Hard to believe this is the same band who made the wild Honest Mistake. Sam Endicott mumbles like a bad Morrissey impersonator over muddy guitars evoking only drudgery. A horrible letdown.

THE SONIC HEARTS Hold On 7/10

Bittersweet jangles, an enthusiastic yelping vocalist and the impression they're out to rival Fountains Of Wayne for adult pop one day. They just need more conviction in the production.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO I Believe 7/10

Teaming up with their old singer Simon Lord again, his plaintive gospel works well next to the sparse waves of synths and eerie bassline. Too downtempo and minimal to be a proper single, but still shows the duo's class.

THE TWILIGHT SAD And She Would Darken The Memory 9/10

Both wracked with fragile emotion and stuffed with gargantuan guitar noise. All human life here, and much from beyond the stars.

SILVERSUN PICKUPS Well Thought Out Twinkles 8/10

Shimmering REM riffs offset by Brian Aubert's impassioned yelp and the sense of a band so keen to write the perfect song they'll meltdown if they don't nail it by the chorus.

ST VINCENT Now Now 8/10

Startling debut by one Annie Clark. Part Cocteaus surreal lyricism, part Bjork delighted squeaks, part other-worldly gospel, it's impossible to nail down and several hurrahs for that.

Thank you, for the reccomendations.
