Posted July 13, 200718 yr Meanwhile, sources tell PerezHilton.com that RCA Records and its head honcho, Clive Davis, have all but abandoned any “future plans” to promote Kelly Clarkson’s new CD. Instead, Davis has moved onto Idol sweetheart Carrie Underwood’s follow-up to her 6-million selling Some Hearts CD. When Clarkson’s My December failed to debut at #1 last week, RCA pulled almost all of their summer campaign of tv and print spots and have moved on to Underwood’s much anticipated fall release, we are hearing. - This is a snippet taken from an article at perezhilton.com 1) The album has been very successful.. 2) Why abandon an artist that has worldwide appeal for one that hasn't.. although carrie's new album will be number one in america.. but that is besides that point.
July 13, 200718 yr Yeah they seem to be jumping ship, which is causing a bit of tension between some Kelly and Carrie fans. Im sure she'll get promoted, its up to management which she has joined a great roost, not the record label.
July 13, 200718 yr :o A label that doesn't support one of its major artists? Although Carrie has sold albums TREMENDOUSLY, her major market is US and the US only, while Kelly's is the whole world, she appeals to the whole world. This is just preposterous.
July 14, 200717 yr I can't believe how immature these assholes are! assuming its true, they've abandoned her because the album didn't hit #1? GROW UP! it doens't mean anything to them that the album has sold over 400,000 copies in 2 weeks? Clive Davis is a selfish immature little brat who cant cope with the fact one of his music slaves has broke free, so now he's turning to the next best one.
July 27, 200717 yr And I think it's all because of Kelly that she loses her best bizzz freinds. If she wasn't so stubborn after all and decided to write just a song or two with somebody who didn't necesserily want her to turn into Britney Spears but just wanted to created some good lyrics, then it would still go in the right direction. I'm really sorry, but this album wasn't anything like my expectation. Thankful was just a pop album, not really good one but Kelly's voice was a powerful one and nice to listen to. Breakaway was a huge hit as it should be. Songs were kind of rock but still a rock that we all can sing along with nice lyrics. My December which, to me, appeared out of nowhere ( one day you know nothing, the next day there's single waiting for you...) is really disapointing both in lyrics as in melody and even in Kelly's voice. She must accept she's not the best in the world, intead of writing down all her greif and sorrows. All songs about loliness and being rejected? C'mon! No wonder my fav is One minute! Music is quite good, but changes "tiempo" all the time and with such strange lyrics it's impossible to remember it all. As to voice - it doesn't sound like the one that I once knew and really loved. Now it seems more like screaming and yelling. Like she's mad at everybody. Clive did the right thing to tell her her album was a c**p, but obviously it didn't work. I'm not defending him, cuz what he's telling to the press is just rediculous (cutting the money for promotion... phi!) but he just wanted something good to sell that to peaple. And now he can lough that a girl with a loads of pride refused his help and wrote something that fell out on top 10 pretty soon. Never again has to grow in you to like it and i'm afraid it didn''t have a lot of time to do so. Sober is a faiure. I'm an ordinary person and I think I know what peaple like to hear while driving from work. They like popy song by Take that or at least something simple with a good tune. I, personally, listen to Darius or new Mutya single. I love Gareth Gates but I just can't listen to his latest cuz at some piont it's getting depressing. As for Carrie - I've discovered her lately, in Poland I don't have a chance to hear out all of AI news but despite me not liking country I must admit it's good and Before he cheats really rocks. Don't say Kelly's an international and Carrie isn't cuz the next thing we may not is that she's turning so. Clive invests his money to turn her so, in fact. If I were him, I also didn't want to give Kelly the money as she was rude and acted big-headed. Carrie's got also great voice (in fact, everybody can sing like that lately..) and nice songs. I like just one more country singer - Josh Gracin, also from AI i think. It's nice of Kelly she stated her mind but a little too late that would be I guess. The damege in her image had been done. I hope she won't be dropped by her label as everybody gets currently and realise she can learn a lot from working with professional writer. Why can't she let them help her? Be in a hurry to deliver me and many other something worth listening because I left MD three days after giving it a go or two. Your screams are not for me ears.
July 27, 200717 yr Again I don't believe this, and even if it were true Kelly could easily self fund videos for future singles.

Be in a hurry to deliver me and many other something worth listening because I left MD three days after giving it a go or two. Your screams are not for me ears. Come on you Kelly fans, you don't agree with this do you? Eggie, who exactly is it you're a fan of here, Kelly, or the record company, cos I'm really not sure. Ok, I'm not a big fan but I like her and I think the new album is good. Just because the album doesn't have all shiny happy pop songs, you don't want to know her any more. If you are a fan, then she doesn't need or want fans like you. True fans stick by their artists through good times and bad, and it so happens Kelly has been through a bad time, which is what My December is about. But you're not interseted in that, you just want a shiny no.1 single that you can sing along to in the car. Kelly has done an album of very personal and heartfelt, sometimes angry songs and she should be applauded for it, not ridiculed. You should have respect for her that she has done her own thing & not conformed to what some stupid money grabbing executive wants her to do, ie. be just another worthless pop tart. This kind of attitude is a joke, much like the US music industry, interested only in where the next big buck is coming from and not interested in promoting real talent. Eggie, I think you should stick to listening to your throwaway pop, Darius & Mutya whoever, 'cos obviously Kelly is way out of your league. Come real Kelly fans, show some support. You know she's worth more than to be treated like this. Edited July 27, 200717 yr by Simes
July 28, 200717 yr Simes, I didn't say I don't wanna know her any more. Nothing of that kinda stuff. I consider myself a fan (well, an ordinary fan) but of her beautiful voice on Breakaway album. You're not seriously telling me to force myself to listen to MD? I really hate the sound, I'm sorry. I know she has a right to come up with her ideas and to that I'm suportive but I cannot say I'm backing her up while I'm not. Her bahaviour is strange and you surely admit it. Refusing any help cuz she thinks she's gonna handle everything alone? Producing and creating an album is some kind of compromise, I guess. This is stupid to offend somebody who helps you and gives you money. As for Mutya thing: I'm not sure what you wanted to tell me but if you're trying to offend me by saying that all I can lien to is happy pop and stuff like Hilary Duff or whatever then you're wrong, sorry. I like pretty everything: from Snow Patrol to Jamie Cullum. But the difference is, they all good just like Kelly's previous album. MD is out of my sense of melody and rythm, not league. If MD's what's your fav music then I should be sorry for YOU. Out of my league cuz I'm sick of hearing her yelling. That's ridiculous :D The true fan is capable of speak his mind whether he likes the album or not. I can say I don't but it doesn't make me any less supportive to Kelly. I just think she can do better.
July 28, 200717 yr Eggie, it is not my intention to offend. Reading back my last post again, I guess I said some things that are inflammatory & I apologise for that. I know we all have music that we love, but also music that we don't, we could argue all day and night about what we do or don't like. I do accept we each have different opinions, I too like all different kinds of music from pop to metal, but even I don't like 100% of everything my favourite artists / bands have done, so I should have known better than to say what I did. I'm listening to MD as I write and I hear passionate & beautiful songs, which to me, prove Kelly to be not only a wonderful singer but a great songwriter too. I personally prefer this album to the last one (which I also like), it just reflects a bad time in her life, which is obviously not palatable to some people, but I like it. Maybe the next phase of her life will be a happier one and that too will be reflected in future albums. Above all though, for me, MD shows she is real and human, a true artist, not just a manufactured popstrel to be thrown away when her shelf life is up and she deserves to be treated accordingly. I think the veiw of the US record industry that if you don't have a no.1 album and 4 hit singles then you're a failure, is just ridiculous. They only care about money, not music or artists. I guess this is really what I was trying to say before. Kelly will be around for many more years to come, we and RCA should consider ourselves lucky that we have her at all.
July 28, 200717 yr Personally I relly like My December, I dont think it is better than Breakaway, but I certainlly think its a great album with some knock-out tracks on there. Again, I'd disagree with Eggie, especially with the whole big headedness, granted she maybe should have let a few more writers get involved, but she tried her hand at writing and I think its pulled off, its very much a band album, her and her band wrote it, and based purely on the reputation she had gathered from Breakaway people are critising her for changing her sound and being big headed and cocky, whereas I think that is the reverse of the case, I think she wanted to be experimental and make the record she wanted to when given the chance, surely no-one would refuse the chance to be abit more experimental with something they love, whether it's a song and music, or a dance or piece of art work, experiments teach us valuable lessons for the future which we can learn from. Just my opinion however!
August 20, 200717 yr Simes, I apologise to, but that's how I read it. That you're tryin' to offend me. Well, I guess Kelly'll be around, her vice won't let us forget about her. That's a good thing, she already has her "Name". It's just that she shouldn't forget about her fans that love her for her Breakaway.
August 22, 200717 yr I so like the album and I'm so proud Kelly made it even they told her not to do it I think that the album is so successful and that she needs some new label i mean to leave her to do what she wants to do....like Stacey does.Coz if she turns again in POP I don't think i'm gonna buy her new CD
August 22, 200717 yr I would buy a pop orientated album, but only if it was Kelly's real music, not an artificial "made for success" CD.
August 26, 200717 yr Carrie who? never heard of her. i hope that kelly keeps promoting this album. this is Mistaken Identity all over again. i hate it when my artists dont release or promote
