September 10, 200717 yr I've noted Glyn's name but I couldn't justify making a special trip to the WE. I'd take in his show/concert if Darius happened to be doing a gig/show in London at the same time or if I was making a visit to my sister anyway and could fit it in.
September 10, 200717 yr What I find strange is that I did know of Glyn and that he is from my home town, he has done a massive amount of musicals, concerts, shows, radio etc etc but appears to keep a low profile yet when you read on the net what he has done it is amazing that I didnt know because my friend thinks he has an awesome voice and piano talent yet he is not known like michael ball but is superior we think. here is a short review of him where he has just finished playing in steven sodheims merrily we roll along at the derby playhouse - from Theatre guide review - The pre-publicity for Company in 2005 indicated that it featured "the best singing cast ever assembled for a UK production". Yet the ensemble of thirteen for Merrily We Roll Along is arguably even better. To start with there's Glyn Kerslake, a previous Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, as Frank Shepard, a composer whose search for success and stardom carries with it the breakdown of relationships with all the people close to him. There's no need to point out that Kerslake is an excellent singer; he's also a fine actor who changes physically and emotionally during the nineteen years encompassed by the production. He's also a gifted piano player and gets plenty of opportunities to showcase his talents. He now appearing in the premiere of Moonlanding also at the derby playhouse. It just goes to show that not everyone who is supremely talented get to have a high profile. This was the first time he had been back to his home town for several years and am so glad I saw him.
September 10, 200717 yr Nowadays talent is well down the list. High profile is down to who or who's people can best manipulate the media.
September 10, 200717 yr And that has always been the case. I was always amazed to see people who couldn't actually sing, do really well.
September 10, 200717 yr Quote -I don't think there has ever been a time when talent assured a high profile. I dont think that is entirely the case, look at Michael ball, he assumes quite a high profile in theatre circles and I would say that was because of talent and a high work ethic and the same I would say of Johnny depp on the other hand - kelly osborne......
September 10, 200717 yr Michael Ball had Cathy Mcgowan - and a great voice. The voice showed his talent and she spent her life promoting him. She knew the media and the right people. The effect was far stronger and quicker than if he'd had to rely on his talent - which is brilliant and, should be enough on it's own.
September 11, 200717 yr I got this on D's myspace today This profile is undergoing routine maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience! No music at all. It's not the same like this.
September 13, 200717 yr I couldn't get any pictures when I went on this morning. How long has GITM been on the player this time?
