This isnt about D but is connected in a way. Yeserdays Daily mail carried a large article on Sarah whatrmore. If you remember she was on pop idol with D, came about 4 or 5 and SC fancied her. She had a couple of hits one called when I lost you which went to no.6 and automatic. She is signed to 19 and hasnt released a song for five years, however she is releasing a singloe called smile on monday and an album under 19 recordings. Apparently she was asked to let a song be released for WY which she refused but realises now was a big mistake. Apparently in 2004 she experienced a pop ephiphany she was asked to appear on the bill of 19 en tertainments 19th anniversary concert at the albert hall. She was the only one who didnt have a sound check and when she sang there was no sound. But she continued and got great applause. the next day simon fullers office was inundated with phone calls with industry figures about her. She now writes with greg fitzgerald. What I was getting at is she is releasing under 19 recordings but still no D which I find strange.

She was the first of the PI people signed and they've had her writing for 5years without a break. I don't begrudge her her first album release.

I thought her two singles were fairly good and I expected her to release an album back then. Good Luck to her.

 

I think they will only schedule even a ballpark date for the release of D's album when he's completely happy with his choice of tracks and with each individual song.

 

Even then they may not be able to, because you know how hands on Darius likes to be about the design etc. too. If he's juggling acting and MT at the same time, it may be difficult to estimate the time necessary to get it to distribution stage.

I thought her first single When I lost you was excellent and would have expected it to do better than no.6 however I wasnt so keen on automatic. I dont begrudge her her first album however I think she is lucky, but a talented writer, so many others further down the scale in pop idol etc didnt get the chance to release an album.

I felt Zoe was treated particularly badly. they should have had an album out, whether it was big ballads, disco or big band didn't matter. she should have released after Darius. I'd hate to think SC etc. held her on contract justto keep her from the competition. I remember i was relieved when darius told them what to do with their contract because \I had my suspicions that was part of the plan for him - to keep him on the backburner without releasing for a while.

Thats what I mean Zoe finished higher than sarah by a lot yet didnt get the chance to release an album.

I felt that trying to turn Zoe into some copycat R&B girl was so wrong but I think that was her record label's decision and I'm sure it was one of the Universal group.

Even Simon Cowell said that 5 of the best singers were in that last group. They should have been spread out more evenly.

..................and get in the way of his other favourites? It was safer having them in one group, perhaps hoping to sign up the non-finalists for an initial single later.

 

I think Zoe has a part in the westend ? priscilla queen of the desert. Just been announced Nikki evans who came third in X factor last year has a leading role in Blood bros. for six months.

That's good for both of them.

I wonder what part Zoe is playing. The publicity photos for Priscilla seem to feature just guys. the main leads are all Australian which is a great relief. There's nothing worse IMO than a poor attempt at an Australian accent other than most attempts at Scottish ones.

I can't remember the girl charachter's name. I quite enjoyed it though.

Sarah whatmores single seems to be download only and cant see her album on the release chart.

I haven't actually looked and I haven't heard it yet.

Well, according to myspace, he's still writing his 3rd album in London and LA. Dave still reckons it'll be 2107
