I hope Darius was just laying down a track on Sunday so he wouldn't forget any of it. Surely after all the stress of the last 6 weeks, even Darius's voice would need more rest to recover.

Was it just emotion in the interview with Myleene after the duet that made his speaking voice seem deeper and a bit croaky?

agree, I dont know how he actually sung at all, I could hardly put two words together tbh. what with that and the stress of the final!!
Stress and Darius go together! I was listening to Rhydian singing Impossible Dream this morning, I've always enjoyed it before, but this time I really missed the deep tones of Darius voice and it wasn't a patch on the duet from Friday. I did wonder if Darius question on Facebook about his duet was ascertaining peoples reaction to it, with a view releasing it? Sue

i dont like rhydians impossible dream at all, it needs a deeper voice-not bass though

would love to hear darius sing it properly, not with rolando - if he does it like from a distance or i need thee ,would be great

As you say megham, Darius will need practise to use the very bottom of his register with the smoothness and richness he does slightly further up his range.

I dare say basses have to practise to get their very low notes to sound really powerful just as sopranos have to practise to hit their high notes.

On one of Rolando's sites someone who criticised Darius for starting too low was told he started quite correctly in the key in the original score.

Taking into consideration that Darius was not an operatic bass baritone, they seemed to like his voice, and appreciated the emotion he and Rolando conveyed and their obvious friendship.

Regarding the new album, I would also like the deeper voice , it probably mean that he is now having to change about because perhaps he realises this if as he says this show and opera has made him have a change of feeling about the album and whats on it. Everyone I have spoken to loves his voice as it was on this show.

it is interesting and reassuring that on sites that are..well not the run of the mill..there seem to be positive and informed posts. i gained a bit of comfort reading around, that it wasnt us being overly biased,,,

I don't think we can ever expect to get back the Darius sound of the first 2 albums - he'd wreck a very fine voice singing so much falsetto.

They were great for the time - but time moves on. I'm really looking forward to this album.
OMG yes so am i too Meg! Sooooooo Exited about it!!!!!!!!! :yahoo:

It was funny that whereas we've always described Darius's voice as chocolate or honey, LL-B described it as silky - that's the interior decorator POV.

I guess we can agree on pleasurably smooth.

Darius always does that. I can't listen to the two versions of Caledonia I used to love either. There's something lacking that i can't put my finger on.

I would love to hear Darius sing Charles Aznavour's She in his baritone range.

And surely, Darius's Nessun Dorma will be on any new album which has any classical content. I'd love to hear the whole aria.

I loved that one. It really surprised me - so different to any version I'd heard before. It's still my favorite, I could listen to it all night. Not perfect but incredible.
Impossilbe Dream was my Dad's favourite song so I thought it would make me cry but it didn't. I have Rhydian's first album and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought - I think because he isn't Darius.
I didn't mind Rhydian's first album, especially after I'd seen him on tour, but I didn't enjoy his second album at all. Couldn't relate to it somehow. Can't wait to see what Darius produces next. I think it's going to be something very special and well worth the wait! Sue

I'd also like to hear Darius sing With One Look. I'd think he could relate to it too.

I know it's sung by the female lead in Sunset Boulevard but I've heard Michael Ball's version and it works very well for a guy too.

Just listen to those words and imagine Darius singing those with passion.
