March 26, 200817 yr Yet another first in his life. Taking a role in a show that's being produced for the first time should really widen his perception of the industry. Such a good thing to be part of. I don't mind him waiting 3months as long as he does finish the album. Before Dave's birthday card to me from last year says preferably http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/megham/Darius2107small.jpg
July 17, 200817 yr It looks like Darius has found his American "Pete" i.e. someone he can trust completely and who will give him free creative rein. Do you remember sometime ago I posted a bit about a guy who wrote that he'd been working with Darius? When I was playing catch-up around the web earlier today, I found his site again and it's been updated. He says he was collaborating at the end of 2007 with Darius Danesh on more demos for new songs for his forthcoming album. It's good to see written confirmation that the 3rd album is definitely ongoing. I'm sorry I don't have the link just now. I'll post more if/when I find it again.
July 19, 200817 yr Author that is good to read, I really do need some more fresh darius music - I cant help feel so sad for DD who would have loved that new album, makes you realise why you should never put off till tomorrow...
July 19, 200817 yr Helen was a dyed in the wool Darius fan. I have such great memories of meeting up with Helen particularly Lincoln, where we stayed at the same hotel and Helen gave me a lift to and from the concert. That's where I really got to know Helen better and met 3 of her family but I'd been in the birthday presentation group with her at Culzean too. That was a laugh. I've met Helen since at all the theatres except Edinburgh and she was always the same. She was really looking forward to Darius's 3rd album. I'm trying to remember the name of Darius's "Pete" but I keep coming up with Irving Berlin who it definitely isn't.
July 19, 200817 yr He'll have to be careful - she'll come back and haunt him. He'll keep getting the feeling that someone is tapping him on the shoulder and saying ' Oy, get on with the album'. I hope it works as I'd like to hear it as well.
July 19, 200817 yr Well I'm glad I found confirmation that he is really trying to crack on with it. I can't blame him for the hiatus though. He thought he was coming over to do a couple of days' rehearsal and charity shows for the 10th anniversary of Chicago in the West End, when out of the blue someone says "Do you fancy auditioning for Sir Trevor Nunn?" - one of the theatrical directors he most respected while still a student at Edinburgh. A little 'yes' and it just snowballed beyond anything he'd imagined. I wonder if any of the late 2007 demos were ones he might've completed in the Misfits' studios, if he'd hadn't been working such long hours on GWTW.
July 19, 200817 yr I think he would've been working with them if GWTW had gone on long enough to settle. Having to do a slightly different show each night must have been draining.
July 19, 200817 yr Exhausting but undoubtedly beneficial. He must've had many more character and skill building experiences in 6 months than some actors/singers have in their lifetime.
July 19, 200817 yr I'd have liked it to go on though so that he got used to a long run. Nothing at all to do with the fact that I loved the show.
July 20, 200817 yr It makes you wonder if GWTW could have any impact on the work Darius is doing for his 3rd album. He spent weeks watching one of the best arrangers and one of the best orchestrators in the business at work taking a simple melody and building it up and then he was part and parcel of the tweaking process and could see how very subtle changes could have a very different effect. And what of his vocals? Will he want to use the control and/or the vibrato if not the power which he showed every night in the show? I fervently hope it doesn't make him reject yet another batch of songs of the quality of Save Love, No More and Laughing In The Rain.
July 20, 200817 yr So do I. Or if he did, I'd hope we at least got to hear them. There are dozens we'll never hear now.
July 20, 200817 yr I always wanted Darius to have full creative control because that was his dream. I do admit I've wondered if it was really a good thing when it gave him the freedom to toss aside tracks he has lovingly created and start afresh, whenever he has a new concept. That's why I'm a little concerned about the influence of GWTW. For now I'm glad to know that he could be back working on it with his US "Pete". Darius definitely said in my hearing at GWTW that his next priority was the album. I wish I felt that he had a definite release date pencilled in, if only for his own guidance.
July 20, 200817 yr I'll be glad when you can remember who it was. I've only seen mention of people he's done or is doing the odd track with. Any info would be gratefully received.
July 22, 200816 yr Can you remember any of their names, megham? It may be Irvine rather than Irving but it's a good sign, don't you think, he's worked with the same guy on and off in 2006/7. He's obviously been working toward my ideal Darius year. All he needs to factor in is the gigs instead of the acting classes. The acting, he's good enough to learn on the job from now on, especially if it's film or TV where you can have another go if it doesn't go perfectly. That would be a real novelty for him.
July 24, 200816 yr Well, if he's in London, he may still be recording wven theough GWTW ended. That's a very positive note.
