to be honest, I always thought "popstar" sat uncomfortably, Darius was never a teen aimed pop act to me, he is so much better than that.

I am hoping for mature, more songwriter stuff rather than playing festivals, I have always thought of pearls thrown to swine where Darius is concerned

He is better than what they were making him do.

And that is true of their other singer/songwriters. IMHO it was madness to try to turn Sinead Quinn into an Avril Lavigne clone when they had a rock edged singer/songwriter dying to put that kind of music out in Ainslie. The latter's single was produced as straight pop with a video of him squirming around on a bed. No wonder Ainslie wouldn't play ball and waited his contract out.

Teens prefer Popstars who look as if they could date them. Hence the success of IMO much less talented people like e.g.Blazing Squad.

Glasgow has a wonderful variety of venues for every type of performance but frankly, Darius would probably be better going to the many areas of the UK where he has never done a solo gig.

quote baytree - see no sign that Darius is that hungry and rates the money and fame a huge selling album would achieve enough to make such a commitment.

I have to agree with this and with PIP about popstar not sitting comfortably. However if you dont put the work in you dont get the results do you. There are lots of other stars out there with commitments who still mange to gig here and there. Perhaps his feeling natasha and family wise have more sway than we realise or his management are so engaged on other acts. I just dont know .

In my opinion, in one word - kids.

Walking out of their lives for six months feels a lot longer to them and is less easy to do than be apart from an adult. They hadn't really been together as a family unit when Darius did the longer run in Chicago. Now it must be much harder.

He's too dashed responsible.

The importance of his family to him has always been deep rooted in his psyche. It's not something he puts on for the media.
And he would be miserable. I don't want him to be unhappy. I do just want him to do well though.
I just worry that he wont be happy unless he's doing well. His private life is more important but his professional life matters as well. Do you think that I'm getting all mixed up about this. I really shouldn't worry. I know that.

I want him to well, I would give anything for him to get the recognition he deserves and the support he deserves..but not at the cost of his private life and artistic integrity, which seems to be part and parcel these days!!
Which still leaves.............. What ways are there for him to get a platform to showcase his 3rd album, assuming that we've counted out a 19 produced documentary and a gradual build up by extended touring region by region ?

Myspace and bebo would help. A radio tour may do as little as last time, if they don't play it when he isn't there, it's no use at all. Some adverts would help. I think 'Live Twice' had an add shown for a short while in Scotland. Here, most people never even knew it had been released. People don't buy what they don't know exists.

That's the problem - how can we let them know it exists. How can we let them listen to it to make up their own minds. At least this time, Darius should have some influence over single releases.

It's still true, I'm afraid. Gareth did an extensive radio tour and he didn't get the airplay for either single. His fans got the same excuses for their request - they didn't have the promo yet etc. Do you remember somebody hand delivered a copy of Live Twice for the personal attention of a particular DJ who kept swearing there wasn't one in the station and he eventually read out her request and played

Yes I remember that. This time they actually said on air that Darius was one of the most underrated artists but that no one would play his tracks - now what was all that about. I got so uptight. Dari8us just said 'Don't worry, there are worse things that happen' I felt that I could become a violent person.

On top of that the radio stations taken over dropped D from their most requested charts and from their playlists. You couldn't even request him to be put on a list. A few weeks before the sngle was released, it disappeared from the media. That's not normal or fair. If they were enthusiastically playing it before and they were happily playing it when it was rerquestee, what made them suddenly stop.

You know the answer - they lost control over the playlists and had to play the one designated by the group who had refused to play any Darius singles since Rushes...........a playlist stuffed with American artists and bands and UK artists from one particular major record label.

I got Johnny to send a promo of Kinda love into my local station as they said they didn't have it.

1 DJ played it for me whenever I asked.

I later took him the Live Twice album and he played Live Twice. He also said he had Listened to the cd and it was 'good'.

Unfortunately he's moved stations now.

The other DJ's didn't play any requests sent by me or any other person...and I got several colleagues to request...all from different postal areas.

It was very frustrating...how Darius can seem so calm about it beats me....but after seeing his father came back from the face of death....I suppose it must change your view on life/things.

A lot of people were very sceptical about how deeply Darius felt about his father's illness probably because they don't know what an intense guy he is. Some were really horrible and made him sound like a real slimeball whose only desire was to cash in on a sob story. They had absolutely no idea what Booth had been through in his life and how much of a real hero he has always been for Darius.

He dropped everything and put his energy into researching everything he could. I can understand why he flew to America to meet with the authoress of The Journey - it's a very remarkable book. I think her surname was Beys.

I'll bet too it would have been Darius who would have worked through the very difficult emotional exercises in that book with his father, if he'd wanted to.

I think too he felt that talking openly as a family and being honest with each other was a vital part of the healing process and he wanted so much to convey that message for other families who were going through it. Neither was he ashamed to admit that faith and prayer played a part in his opinion.

Wel my local radio station hasnt changed, they are still playing SCS artistes on sony/bmg label all the time even when they are out of the spotlight for some time also I heard the coldplay number the other day that finished second to colourblind in the charts yet they dont play colourblind that was no.1. Cant remember the name of it, was it Clocks.
