Hmm.. I know one of the four was chart inelligible (sp?) because it featured too many tracks for a single, or something. It might have been Lucky Man, not sure

But the main 4 are definately the highlights of the album ^_^

Lucky Man made no.7 so can't be that one, unless it was re-instated somehow

I still don't understand why they split after their biggest album though

"Quit while you're ahead" maybe?

I agree it doesn't make much sense, seeing as how Ashcroft has never produced any solo efforts that can stand up to the stuff he produced as part of the Verve, imo -_-

I think they had a few big-bust ups a la Razorlight, either that or Ashcroft thought he was better as a solo artist

I don't actually think he's that bad a solo artist, A Song For Lovers is a good song by any standards imo, especially these days with Keys To The World, from what I heard I think it's more of a case of he's under-rated

Agreed that it's not The Verve's standards though but that was always going to be the case, he could never beat Urban Hymns

Song For The Lovers was decent, and Break The Night With Colour and Music Is Power were alright, but the others were disappointing to say the least imo. Thats the main reason why ive never really wanted to buy any of his solo albums :(

And I wasn't aware they'd had bust-ups, but then it's commonplace amongst bands who hit their peaks.. the latest example of course being Razorlight, who had that bust up shortly after America got to no.1 -_-

The last album was meant to be an Ashcroft solo effort originally but I think he realised it would sound better with the rest of the band. So it was really done and dusted that Ashcroft would go solo after that whatever the album did. They originally broke up after A Northern Soul.

Oh and for the record:

1. Bittersweet Symphony

2. History

3. Gravity Grave

4. All in the Mind

5. Blue

voted for- Lucky Man...though i also love, Bitter Sweet Symphony, Sonnet, The Drugs Dont Work and This Is Music
