Posted July 18, 200718 yr Two AMAZING films, which to be quite honest, scared the sh*t outta me. I love them both equally, but if I've got to choose one, I'm gonna go with The Descent I just loved everything about it. From the all-female cast, to the gritty violence, to the countless jump scenes, to the shock ending..
July 18, 200718 yr The Descent for me too. I like both but the ending of The Descent's pretty shocking.
July 18, 200718 yr "Wolf Creek", by a whisker.. Mainly because of the realism and the genuinely frightening plausibility about it and the fact that it could happen to you, me, anyone. Because it DID actually happen to real people, and the Peter Falconio murder trial just compounded the whole thing, there really is a "Mick" out there killing people in the Australian outback (quite possibly more than one as well)..... As good as "The Descent" is, it just does not have that realism about it.....
July 19, 200718 yr The Descent I was never that keen on Wolf Creek. One thing that puzzles me though.. what actually happens at the end of the Descent, Ive never figured it out..
July 19, 200718 yr The Descent I was never that keen on Wolf Creek. One thing that puzzles me though.. what actually happens at the end of the Descent, Ive never figured it out.. I think Sarah was dreaming that she had indeed found a way out, but then awoke to find she was actually still in the cave. I think, lol.
July 19, 200718 yr I think Sarah was dreaming that she had indeed found a way out, but then awoke to find she was actually still in the cave. I think, lol. In the US version though, they cut that bit out. Kind of pointless as that's what I think's the best part of the film when you realise she was only dreaming she'd got out.
July 19, 200718 yr In the US version though, they cut that bit out. Bloody stupid that, but so typical of American audiences to want everything tied up in a neat little bow.... Gives the impression of a false "happy ending" when in fact, the real ending I reckon is much more poignant... She sees her dead daughter and knows that she's going to join her finally and accepts her fate to be with her daughter.... It's a marvellous ending....
July 19, 200718 yr Wolf Creek, it was so much more creepy. I found The Descent really dull when I watched it :s. But I think that was only because I've only seen it once and didn't really get it when I watched it ahah. ....Plus one of the women had the most inane, MADE-UP! accent ever.
July 19, 200718 yr Wolf Creek easily Creeped the hell out of me as the slow build up showed the victims to be really likeable normal people and you really feel their pain and ordeal whereas with most horror movies those that die deserve to die more often than not so the slow build up and getting to know the characters really made the movie as much as their fate
