Mark Bolan, the iconic singer of glam rock pioneers T Rex is to be the subject of a new programme marking the 30th anniversary of the musician’s death.

Bolan: 20th Century Boy is to be broadcast on ITV1 in September and features interviews with his son Rolan Bolan, friends and associates, along with his partner Gloria Jones who was driving the car in which Boland met his premature demise on September 16 1977.

Along with contributions from producer Tony Visconti, tour manager Mick Gray and fellow band member Bill Legend and contemporary musicians such as Ana Matronic of The Scissor Sisters Bolan: 20th Century Boy features live concert footage.

1977 was a bad year as we lost both Marc Bolan and Elvis within weeks of each other. I'll be watching the Marc Bolan programme.

Sorry to highjack this thread, but ITV will also be screening an hour-long documentary to mark the 30th anniversary of Elvis' death. "Young Elvis In Colour" will feature the singer's early film screen-tests together with footage of him in concert. There will also be interviews with his childhood friends and musicians.

As part of the BBC Radio 2 ‘60s Season, three Elvis shows are planned for August:

Elvis And Me - Saturday 11 August 2007

Elvis - 68 Comeback - Tuesday 14 August 2007

Don't Start Me talking About Elvis - Wednesday 15 August 2007
