July 19, 200718 yr Went for the beatles, Another brick in the wall has been far too overplayed on radio and has got a little tiresome.
July 19, 200718 yr If it had been the likes of Comfortably Numb, Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Money, See Emily Play or Us & Them then the Floyd would have seen off the Beatles, but as you picked that relatively awful & overplayed musical piece that is the only Floyd track known by the average music fan who thinks Robbie Williams is better than Elvis Presley & Queen are better than the Beatles, and think the God awful Candle In The Wind is the best thing that Elton John ever did when it is probably the worst song he recorded between 1971-76 & have Bat Out Of Hell as their All-Time favourite album..... then it is no contest. Beatles win.

Beatles win. Now I know that Floyd did release much better tracks than this but I thought it would be better to keep it to tracks that were popular i.e. were hits and would be more readily recognised by more people and so encourage them to vote. Now if you want to make suggestions for songs that weren't necessarily hits then go ahead. I think the choice of songs should be down to all forum visitors. And anyway I have a soft spot for this as it was NO 1 just as I was about to start secondary school and it was one of the first singles I ever got. Way before I ever heard the genius of Piper or Dark Side of the Moon.

July 20, 200718 yr Totally agree with thisispop. Although realistically only 'See Emily Play' or 'Jugband Blues' could get my vote over 'Paperback Writer / Rain'.

July 20, 200718 yr I love The Beatles, but Paperback Writer is twee fluff. The Floyd track is, admittedly, one of their worst - but it's still better than one of my least favourite Beatles songs.
July 20, 200718 yr It's good but not as good as those two! no?... hmm... im not so sure, ive not overplayed it as much as 'emily', and the subject matter was very ground breaking. however it pisses all over 'another brick in the wall'...
July 20, 200718 yr Author I love this! This is what soundclash should be like. A close vote and loads of discussion.
July 21, 200718 yr I was about 7 or 8 years old when "Another Brick In The Wall" came out, it was the first Pink Floyd song I'd ever heard, and frankly, I dont give a fukk what anyone says, this song really spoke to me as a kid.... I was stuck in a fukkin' CATHOLIC SCHOOL, so you better believe the lines "We Don't Need No Education/We Don't Need No Thought Control" and "HEY, TEACHER!! Leave Them Kids Alone" actually struck a chord with me on a sub-conscious level.... So, over-played or not, the Floyd song actually meant something to me, so it gets my vote, simple as (obviously the Floyd have done better songs, I aint gonna deny it).... Anyone care to argue with that....?
