She's a wonderful lady

And she's mine all mine

And there doesn't seem a way

That she won't come and lose my mind.

It's too easy humming songs

To a girl in yellow dress

It's been a long time since the party

And the room is in a mess.

The four kings of E.M.I.

Are sitting stately on the floor

There are birds out on the sidewalk

And a valet at the door.

He reminds me of a penguin

With few and plastered hair,

There's talcum powder on the letter

And the birthday boy is there.

Why don't you cut your hair?

Why don't you live up there?

Why don't you do what I do,

See what I feel when I care?

Now they've darkened all the windows

And the seats are naugh-a-hyde.

I've been waiting for an hour,

I can't find a place to hide.

The being known as Wonder Girl

Is speaking I believe.

It's not easy tryin' to tell her

That I shortly have to leave.

Why don't you be like me?

Why don't you stop and see?

Why don't you hate who I hate,

Kill who I kill to be free.

great lyrics... but wtf do they mean?... im not very good at reading messages...lol. i cant work out why it was called 'randy scouse git'... and who was 'the being known as wondergirl'?... lol.

It was written by Mickey Dolenz as a homage to England:

Wonder Girl was otherwise known as model/designer/disc girl on TOTP Samantha Juste, whom Mickey Dolenz later married in 1968.

The four kings of E.M.I.

= The Beatles.

The song was called Randy Scouse Git after a phrase used by Alf Garnett to describe his Liverpudlian son-in-law in the sitcom To Death Do Us played by the actor James Booth (father of Cherie Blair).

If it's not too rude then how old are you?

BTW I still can't believe You Only Live Twice never made the Top 10. It's probably my favourite Bond theme.

50. :)

Such a great time in music. So diverse.

From heavy rock of Jimi Hendrix - Psychedelic - Pink Floyd - Great Pop of Small Faces, Turtles Monkees etc. Urban of Four Tops, Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & Aretha, Country Music of Nancy Sinatra, to the ballads of Tom Jones & Englebert Humperdink.

You can check on the complete Top 50 singles charts of this time week by week HERE

On this site click on Chart Archives and choose the chart you want.

one that sticks out for me in that list is here comes the nice, by the small faces brilliant song. No doubt it was probably banned then due to its hint reference to drugs
Wow - that's an impressive chart. Nice to see Randy Scouse Git in the top 3!

Randy Scouse Git is one of their best. pity there doesnt seem to be any Love in the chart. as Love is great. all you need is love etc etc etc
