I found these three articles today on elvisnews and it got me thinking about how many products Elvis’ image has been associated with. The image of Elvis is instantly recognisable by consumers across the world but I often wonder if it detracts from his music and I do believe, in a lot of cases, all it does is perpetuate the ‘caricature’ image of Elvis. Is any publicity, good publicity?

And of course, we all know the Kingsmill bread adverts, ‘By Appointment To The King’. I suppose, in their defence, they did feature the young Elvis and played on the fact that he did once, set foot on British soil.

An example of the usual image portrayed of Elvis is in this Audi advert.

Now, this is what we like. An advert that concentrated on Elvis’ music and brought it bang up to date with a remix version of A Little Less Conversation. This track went straight to number one in 2002 after it was featured in a NIKE advert.

And more recently Elvis BBC Radio 2 Commercial that placed Elvis alongside other great artists.

Just one more thing, the inclusion of Elvis tracks in the latest Disney animated films, can only be a good thing. In part three of the "Lilo And Stich" entitled "Leroy And Stitch" Elvis' music is featured again in the tracks "Aloha 'Oe", "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and 'Jailhouse Rock". In Japan a cover from "Don't Be Cruel" will be released on single. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y48/elvis1959/cd_dontbecruel_hitomitoi.jpg

I know, from personal experience, that young children are getting turned onto Elvis by this medium. I’m hopeful that Elvis will live on in the next generation and that can only be good news!
