I thought we could discuss it on here if anyone wants to, so we don't let anything slip on the other threads and spoil it for others.

This technically isn't Darius-related so shouldn't even be here  Have you lot ever tried other forums?

To me, it makes perfect sense to have a sub chat temporary thread to do this discussion and keep it all together and then get the mod to put it as a whole into the chat thread. We did the same thing with the review posts for Chicago and for Guys and Dolls. I haven't read one single HP book so I wouldn't want this in the general chat thread.

How we run this forum is surely up to our mods.

I read all the other forum indexes every day. I'm not interested in most of the general forums but do post occasionally in the pop forum, lounge, TV, movies, books and sometimes in the chart forum.

I assume that the forum you post in does not have a general chat thread or inc. as it's often called. Maybe you should open one then you can discuss anything even Harry Potter.

I forgot - I also sometimes post in the current affairs thread, world perspectives.

I could have put this in the interchange thread but it seemed better seperate so it could just disappear

:D finished...I wish she hadn't done the last chapter

I had tissues at hand several times...

can we use this thread or not?

I don't see why not. If Slick had the power and we were contravening the rules the thread would have been closed.

I agree with you about the last chapter - it wasn't necessary

so who dies?? and does Harry ever get to Spec savers?

this can be a sub thread, I will merge it when you have discussed the book and let me know its finished with - I can see it is beter to have this seperate for the moment.

I thought the last chapter was completely useless and actually spoilt the end of the book. I found it most sad when Dobbie died. He deserved so much more. The fact that Lupin and Tonks died leaving a son the age Harry was when his parents died (except that he's been left with someone who love him) seems to leave the door open for another story. I always thought one of the twins would. Again, this leaves scope for another story.

It was just such a shame to have such a lame ending stitched on.

but it was a touching thing he said to his son about Snape

PiP...loads died, I thought there was only 2 :o so when the second died early on I knew it was wrong.

Yes Meg I had tears rolling down when Dobby died also when Harry was walking to meet Voldemort and he turned the stone.

Tonks and Lupin dying just felt as though she had stuck it in

So Dumbledore was dead. I enjoyed meeting his brother.

poor Snape....is that who she cried about?

Yes, the last chapter definitely spoilt it, though Hayley cried when she read that Harry had named his son Albus Severus (poor kid).

It was sad when Dobby died and I liked that they dug his grave by hand and gave him a proper funeral.

The Snape chapter was very good (Claire cried at that).

I didn't quite understand why Harry didn't died when the Elder wand struck him. He wasn't holding the ring so it couldn't have been because of the deathly hallows. I wonder if she could have made more of those three objects.

I also found it hard to believe that destroying each Horcrux wouldn't have had some sort of effect on Voldemort since it was pieces of his soul.

Oh and if destroying the horcrux in the ring cursed Dumbledore, wouldn't the other horcruxes have had the same curse on them?

I got the impression that it hadn't as they'd used the form required to destoy it whereas Dumbledore didn't. I knew they'd get him back in the story somehow.

She did follow everything she had said through and Snape was shown to be a goodie. I just couldn't have accepted it if she'd 'backtracked' and made him bad.

I was pleased about Kreacher. He's now in the character of a house elf. So surroundings did bother them as well as humans.

Voldemort wasn't the rightful owner of the wand...Harry was...and he also was the owner of the cloak, he possessed the stone...whether he was owner of that as well I'm not sure.

Dumbledore said it may also have been because he was giving up his life and not fighting back.

A combination of these things perhaps saved him...

The stone in the ring....Dumbledore still desired it for himself hence wearing it.....would it have done the same if Harry had worn it?

The necklace tried to kill Harry, everything happened a bit quick for the story to dwell on the cup and the diadem was destroyed as Harry reached for it.

I did like Kreacher turning up at the end.....and it was good everyone else turned up to help but I felt that was also just dropped in without much thought.

Good old Mrs Weasley....could have cheered there.

Harry certainly did a lot of talking and explaining to Voldemort.....and for everyone listening

.....which brings me back to the last chapter.......I'm more interested in what he's doing now.......

The necklace was just cursed not a Horcrux.

Good old Mrs Weasley....could have cheered there.

Just because someone decides to nurture rather than promote themselves doesn't mean they're a doormat. Watch out anyone who tries to harm the kids. I was with her all the way.

The necklace was a horcrux and Ron destroyed it with the sword of Gryfndorr

The locket was. I thought we were talking about the necklace that Kate was given in the ladies.
