Artists taking credit for other's songs

but with bands and established collaborators like Elton and Bernie Taupin there a bit more credibility than some artists that are marketed as some kinda upscale boho artiste but if you read the credits its like a car production line with them on a conveyer belt and at different parts on the line people like John Shanks, Francis White and Mikkel S. Eriksen all putting their stamp of 'components' on the project.

I agree mate... The likes of Avril have been touted as being these solo "singer songwriters", as if they're the archetypal "struggling bohemian artistes" or summat, which is quite plainly an absolute crock of sh!t.... If you compare Avril to a genuine singer/songwriter like Tori Amos, Kate Bush (and yes, I reckon Kate Bush IS a fair comparison, she was writing songs OFF HER OWN BACK when she was 16, she certainly did not need anyone to help her write "Wuthering Heights" or "Babushka", or indeed "market" her as something she wasn't...) or Alanis Morissette, the contrast is incredibly stark.... Avril is production line, whereas the other three are deffo more the real deal....
