July 23, 200717 yr 9.30pm. Should be fun! Love this part of a review from the Mail on Sunday Magazine (Sunday, 22 July 2007) "The drama starts when satanic pop impressario Nigel Martin Smith realises his deam of managing four boys, 'barely out of their teens, shaved and oiled'. but it's a pie-scoffing Barlow who insists on the addition of Butlins-bound Robert Williams - a decision he comes to regret when his stuttering protege returns from Glastonbury with a taste for rock 'n' roll excess, tattoos and KFC bargain buckets. Before long, the self-styled Robster is rubbishing the good name of the pelvic-thrusting five piece and sabotaging Our Gary's attempts at a solo career with his foul-mouthed outbursts. This spoof biography even manages to shoehorn in appearances from a demented Michael Barrymore and a drug-hungry Russell Brand, as it charts Williams's 'drink and drugs hell', before the humble yet all-conquering return of Barlow and the boys concludes this saga of pop's odd couple. More revealing than any fly-on-the-wall biopic and as over the top as William's ego. Fantastic". This looks hilarious!
July 23, 200717 yr Like all spoofs it will be hilarious, not always true and certainly not intellegent, yet possibly enjoyable at the same time. :)
July 23, 200717 yr Like all spoofs it will be hilarious, not always true and certainly not intellegent, yet possibly enjoyable at the same time. :) Susie - It'll be brilliant. Its quite an honour to be spoofed by this team. Just like celebrities in the 80's were upset if Spitting Image didn't take the proverbial! Any publicity is good publicity and it keeps all five in the public eye (when none of them seem keen on any promo of any kind at the moment). Kathy PS - I'm still waiting to see what Feel The Fever does when he sees what I've done to the Boot & Immune thread! Edited July 23, 200717 yr by kathyp
July 23, 200717 yr These are surreally funny. The David Beckham, George Michael episodes were really good from last series. But the standout episode was the Brad Pitt Star Stories = very funny ... to give you some idea that it is fairly loose with actual facts ........... _KAQvQo_LDk Brad Pitt Star Stories - The Conclusion Still it will be entertaining if it has Gary as the "good" guy & Robbie as the "baddie" for a change to redress a certain Peter Kay Thing episode & Matt Lucas & David Walliams' Rock Profiles.
July 23, 200717 yr I agree ... from reviews I've read - it seems like Rob does come across as the bad guy instead of his 'sainted' image - a much welcome change!!!!! Still looking forward to it - even though they've picked five of the ugliest guys on the planet to impersonate our heroes! Although I must say - Robbie's character is ever so reminiscent of Gunner Beaumont from It Ain't Half Hot Mum! Maybe a telling statement! Kathy
July 24, 200717 yr How odd KathyP, Robbie has always been cast as the Bad Guy out of them all, I'd like to know when he was ever considered "sainted". The good guy was always Gary. I would rather have a bit of promo than spoof trash TV, but I suppose with neither having anything to promote it means I have to settle for nothing. Edited July 24, 200717 yr by Susie

Susie we must have been reading different articles over the years. It wasn't Robbie who was slaughtered by the media not so long ago. As far as I can see - Robbie has always come across as the innocent 'little boy lost' always getting the press on his side. Its only recently when Take That have come back as the underdog has Gary gained any sympathy at all. Anyway - I will not be drawn into this 'Gary versus Rob' argument again. Lets just agree to disagree. With regard to this particular spoof - any publicity is good publicity - given that none of the five seem up for it at the moment. It'll be a bloody good laugh anyway .... especially seeing Rob and Gaz fighting over a meat pie when later the three others are rummaging around in litter bins! Tune in the Friday after .... they're sending up Tom Cruise and Scientology .... now that I've gotta see! Kathy
July 24, 200717 yr Gosh Kathy, the G v R thing is the last thing I would want to be drawn into, but you just said something in your post that I felt differently about and still do, so I just made a comment to it thats all. ..nothing more than that. I don't particularly believe in this G v R thing anyway. They are poles apart as individuals and professionals. You have almost convinced me to watch the dog gone programme now lol.. Tom Cruise and Scientology I don't know how they could make that funny but you are getting me to jump on board and watch.

Susie - here's the Radio Times review of the Star Stories episode featuring Tiny Tom! "I picture the Church of Scientology as a slick operation, backed by a well-oiled PR team ready to pounce on any negative coverage. Well, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they first set eyes on tonight's Star Stories, a typically childish and filthy burlesque of the life of Tom Cruise with the subtitle - How Scientology Is In No Way Mental. It's as respectful as that suggests. At one stage we meet Tom's alien spirit guides - a pair of blobs with rubber bits hanging off who speak in Welsh accents and critique his scripts: "It's no ET but it's got something" is their verdict on Top Gun. There's also a pervy Stanley Kubrick, a brilliant Nicole Kidman ("You had me at 'Crouch slightly") and the Fonz doing the Riverdance. It's hit-and-miss comedy, but fortunately the hits are many and hilarious" DB - Radio Times TV Reviewer This episode is going out Friday, 3rd August, 9.30 on Channel 4 Can't wait to see who they do the week after. July 26, 200717 yr Thanks Kathy, I just have to watch the Tom Cruise one..I can just imagine that the laughs outweigh the misses.. :o Not sure about tomorrows though ;) I have edited this part of my post in response to Dino's post who I could have sworn was Jonny something before because I don't know quite what to say, or rather I do know what to say, but its not worth it. So best not say anything at all. Edited July 26, 200717 yr by Susie
July 26, 200717 yr That vid: "No, she just bit him when they were f***ing" This looks good too! The George Michael one was really good.
July 28, 200717 yr This was the funniest TV show I've seen all year, if this episode was anything to go by this series of Star Stories is going to be even more funnier, surreal & ruder than the first. It was equally rude towards Gary (as the dullest man in showbiz who is ugly & overweight) & Robbie (as a talentless in the closet unfunny comedian), but the highlight of the show had to be them fighting for the pork pie. ..... and I loved Jason with the voice of Chewbacca from Star Wars.

But it was Howard they gave the Chewbacca howl to ... Jason they had performing 'a la' Noel Coward, with his pronunciation of his name "Oraaaaanje" They didn't give Mark much to do! Loved Elvis Costello and the Gallaghers! I thought the bit were Rob meets Guy Chambers and says "Lets call it Angels" ... Guy Chambers ... "Well that's gotta be worth 50% of the royalties" was good too. Oh darn it - I take it back - even the first few minutes were funny! Kathy Edited July 28, 200717 yr by kathyp
July 31, 200717 yr The entire show has now been posted. Y9nxRhVmcus Part 1 lYvwcbF63fM Part 2 BTOmtZVQfAQ Part 3 I thought the show was hilarious. At least the show was equally as rude to Robbie as it was to Gary (which is a relief from a BuzzJack moderation point of view). :D
August 8, 200717 yr Anyone see the Tom Cruise one. Hilarious I thought. I missed it unfortunately - which surprises me as I can't stand Tiny Tom. A friend who watched it said it wasn't that funny - but I'm still hoping to catch bits on Youtube! Kathy
