What is that song at number 1?

Sort of an indie-pop-emo track, which is gonna be massive here too no doubt. Is starting to get TV and radio airplay now.

Next week's chart is probably gonna be quite surprising....Billboard changes the airplay/sales ratio and next week the change will take place. Airplay will get a higher percentage and sales less and a bigger pool of radio stations is added (for example. almost doubling the country stations and now all country stations will be included as until now almost half weren't because appearantly they didn't play enough recurrents). So next week song with points coming heavily from sales as HSM2, Aly & AJ, Hilary Duff will collapse and loads of rnb songs with good airplay but poor sales will storm up the charts.

Good 2 see Plain White T's second week no 1. It will be the last for the song thou, Sean Kingston was released this week as a dl and will move 23-1 next week.

How stupid... next week a hicks ville chart coing our way

Funny how these airplay-favoring changes come as the #1 song, Hey There Delilah, managed to reach to top spot without being absurdly overplayed on radio, the result of record company-financed bribery.

I see payola will once again rule the Hot 100! If only they had made the changes earlier - then Fergie could have enjoyed her 27th #1! And these losers Plain White T's -- who don't even have a guest rapper, I mean can you imagine?! -- would be kept at bay, peaking at #23 when the song is clearly the most purchased and most popular song in the country. That's how the chart should work!

PS this topic might deserve its own thread in the chart chat.

Exactly, I hate it.

Wow, I haven't heard of these changes to the chart! :o That's really surprising to me as digital sales seem much more important than freakin radio airplay! Doesn't seem like a very smart move to me... I can't see a whole lot of people liking this change. But at least artists and their record companys can buy their way into getting a song played so much that it should do better on the chart. -_-

This is what is appearantly gonna happen:

The changes to the Hot 100 will take place in the 8/11/07 issue. They've been running test charts all year long.

Historically, the Hot 100 formula has been roughly airplay (60%) and sales (40%). The new chart changes will adjust the chart back to it's more historic ratios.

Over the last year the chart had seen the ratio for airplay (40%-30%) and sales (60%-70%) change dramatically due to large digital growth in 2006 and 2007.

The breakout of the new Hot 100 formula will basically be airplay (55%), sales (40%) and on-demand streaming (5%).

Airplay will now include all BDS monitored stations regardless of whether they report to a specific format or not (it will also include the stations removed from the Country panel for not playing enough currents).

I can't think of one pop/rock artist who will actually benefit from this bs. If more people are downloading rock than rap, then the singles chart should show that, radio is all about payola anyways. I guess people complained that "pop" acts like Avril and Maroon 5, who actually had the most popular songs in the country, hit #1, since pop acts are supposed to be happy with a #5 peak on the hot 100.

What awful rules, if our charts were controlled mainly by airplay, Chasing Cars would have been No.1 for months
