I think rotas are absolutely necessary in voluntary associations otherwise the 'somebody else will do it' becomes the norm and one person is left to carry the load. With a rota there's more chance that people will be more committed.

I know it's necessary. So much of my life is determined by the clock, the thought of being chained to anything else is horrific.
I've got a dishwasher but I only really use it if I've used a lot of saucepans etc. crockery, even cutlery I don't mind.

I just fill it up every time the cupboard is empty enough to put away the last lot.
