I think she would, she said herself that she poured her heart and soul into the album, and she had so much more input than IE, and it didn't get the reception she wanted...i think she'll look back saying what if....

I remember reading somewhere that Delta wanted the MI album re-packaged for the UK with a happier cover-shot -- that she thought that the cover was too dark and depressing. I suppose she must have thought that 'dark' veneer that they placed on MI was a bit of over-kill.

 

As for the success of the album --- well a lot of spanners were thrown in the works. The Mark/OOTB thing must have been really humiliating for her. To have all the hype about this love song and then to split up with him just before the single release must have been quite embarrassing and sad, I suppose. Then the Brian saga started almost as soon as the Mark thing died down. After that possible opportunities for single promotion in Australia were neglected in order to set things up for a US attempt that never eventuated. A bit of a rocky road, really, when it is put it like that.

 

 

 

Didn't Delta say that it wasn't about Mark, that the media basicially branded the song for her?

I think it was definately about Mark though, 'out of the blue, there I met you...'

 

And on Visualise doesn't she make some remark about the songs meaning, saying something along the lines of, we know what it's about but it's a great song anyway....

Although I'm not 100% on that, need to re-watch that someday ha.

I wouldn't say Mistaken Identity didn't do well - compared to Innocent Eyes yes it flopped - but stand alone it had respectable sales.

Sounds a bit too good for mark, even then!

According to my calculations, 6 out of the 15 songs on Mistaken Identity were about a love interest or relationship! So proportionally that means the album wasn't about damned Mark!! If the journo's had actually listened to the album rather than just gone for an easy headline they may have realised that but alas they didn't!! -_-

 

And what you have to remember is that Mark came into her life when she was extremely vulnerable. Given that generally her emotions were heightened at that time, I'd say she just clung onto him. She needed something good to give her outlet from her struggles and give her hope when she needed it most. Which makes Mark all the more of a bast*rd for the way he went about ending the relationship. He took her for granted and I'm sort of glad that it ended when it did. Because now she's ended up with Brian, who quite cleary respects, cherishes, loves and is thankful for the presense of Delta in his life. Take away all the media c**p and she's probably with the right man for her [well in imo].

 

"I can't believe this happened so soon" .. I think she's refering to she's in hospital, then Mark sends her flowers, sparks fly etc and ta da a relationship starts. That she wasn't expecting to a find a partner so soon after/during a time of personal trauma! At least thats my take on it!
