(The current music scene is) a huge lull.I haven't seen anybody out there who has had a performance where I'm like 'That's f------g awesome!' It's been boring. Nothing's been wow for me." Aiming for a release later this year, she has been recording in her home studio, experimenting with live musicians and stripping down her sound. "I'll get on the pian-ah," she says in her Lousiana twang, more pronounced in person than it is in her public appearances, "and just play whatever feels good". Hearing herself sing to Sean Preston has proved a turning point. "When I was little, I would listen to myself," she says. "But the record label signs you, and you're just thankful to get a hit song. You can't really show off your voice and where you came from". Which brings her back to Louisiana. Growing up, "I used to listen to Blues music, and all that stuff," she says. "I would like to try to have more influences of that sound. Not that I'm going to be like frickin' Tina Turner. But you never know." -Britney Spears, People Magazine, February 2006 "I was always just trying to work with talented dope artists in any genre. We just really made an effort to really get out there and work with all these people; I’m working with Mya, Jojo, Britney Spears, all that kind of stuff. Working with Britney specifically is great, I mean, she’s very talented and she’s just like a veteran, even though she’s young, she’s been performing and doing things for like 20 years. When you get in the studio with her, she’s focused; she knows how her voice is. Even writing, we wrote a song and I was really impressed by her creativity and how well she knows herself. She’s just dope, she’s a veteran. It’s kind of a combination of Pop and Hip-Hop. I love Hip-Hop, and people tell me even when I’m doing Pop and R&B, I think they come to me because I have a certain edge in the music and the Hip-Hop is there. Definitely that feeling is in there, that groove is in there. But you know, it’s still Pop music, it’s still very her, it’s just next level Britney. We’re working on a few different songs, some are just, it’s hard to explain, like dark and dramatic, others are more dance and still others are just straight club, Hip-Hop people can feel it, and Pop." "She's been a mother and she'll still be doing that, but she's very much into her music. She literally can't go anywhere without her privacy being invaded. Everybody is trying to get information. So the record we wrote, it addresses the 'who do you trust' kind of thing. Not rap rap, but talk rap. It's definitely Britney, but the next level. With songs like 'Toxic' she was very innovative, and we're trying to top it. Push it to the next thing." -JR Rotem, Producer Britney Spears isn't dumb. She's well aware of the fans who have been alienated in recent months by her headline-generating behavior. "She understands what's going on right now, and she calls it her 'rocky moment,' " says Spears' manager, Larry Rudolph. "Britney knows exactly what she needs to do." Rudolph is speaking out to address news that on Jan. 31, World of Britney, the largest unofficial fan website devoted to Spears, is closing down after more than six years. Among the reasons: her image. Rudolph concedes that Spears, 25, has acted out in ways to fuel negative publicity. "I'm not defending it, and she's not defending it." But many of the tabloid reports, he says, are either untrue or exaggerated. When she nodded off during an appearance at a Las Vegas Nightvlub New Year's Eve, he was getting calls asking which hospital she was in. "We were sitting there drinking orange juice. She got tired in a club, and we took her back to her room. Suddenly, I'm hearing words like 'collapsed' and 'passed out.' " From a fan's perspective, "from what they've been seeing and hearing, I understand the disappointment," Rudolph says. "But Britney is increasingly motivated to get out there. She sees this as a challenge, that some fans may be questioning her. She is respectful. She sees this as her challenge to win them back." The singer's next album is about half completed, Rudolph says, and in the next few weeks, her focus will be in the studio. "She's real excited." There is no official release date yet, but Rudolph says an "educated guess" calls for a single released in late summer and an album in late fall. Rudolph, who directed Spears' career until 2003, came back on board just two months ago, the day Spears filed for divorce from Kevin Federline, 28. The singer's self-imposed break from recording and touring "clearly" didn't go as she had planned, he says. Spears married Federline in 2004, and they have two sons, 1-year-old Sean Preston and 3-month-old Jayden James. Spears filed for divorce Nov. 7, "and that of itself is a sign to fans that she's serious" about a professional comeback. "She's taking all the right steps," Rudolph says. "Britney Spears will be back and absolutely at the top of the entertainment industry very soon." -Larry Rudolph, Ex-Manager "Her album's going to be incredible," Garrett told The Showbuzz. "I am really excited. She's been very happy-go-lucky in the studio. Her mindset is great — she seems very focused." Garrett said that he is making sure he's giving her some tracks that are "going to be talked about. Exciting, aggressive, fun. We're definitely getting back to the basics with her. We're trying to make the world dance and sing to her beat." "I'm working with Britney. It's really coming together right now. I know she'll do exceptionally well now that she's out of rehab. Her new album is like Toxic times 10. It's going to be a lot of fun and it's really exciting. We did a lot of great work before her break. Britney is a superstar. She definitely knows how to handle herself, but it's tough sometimes. The pressure sometimes gets to you, but I think she has done such a great job keeping her composure under the circumstances." -Sean Garrett, Producer Don't expect any insight on Britney's breakdown on her forthcoming album — yet another collaborator says the LP will just be about good times. "She didn't let none of her personal life into what she was doing," Nate "Danja" Hills said. "There was no, 'I need to let it all out.' She said she deals with that in another way." As one of Britney Spears' main collaborators, Danja has co-written and produced seven to eight songs with the singer so far, in sessions with songwriters Keri Hilson and Corte Ellis. Other songwriters and producers on the yet-untitled effort include Pharrell, Sean Garrett, Scott Storch, Dr. Luke, J.R. Rotem, Ne-Yo, T-Pain and Kara DioGuardi. Hills' sessions with Spears started in July 2006 — before the divorce, the all-night partying, the head-shaving and rehab. He says that despite all the bumps in her personal life, her professional life has remained right on track. "As far as her work ethic, I haven't seen anybody come in like that and do what you go to do," Hills said. "Boom, boom, boom, and get it done. So as an artist? She's ready to go." Spears' game plan to make a fun, danceable album has also remained steady, Hills said. Instead of scrapping tracks and starting over once her life started changing, the singer stuck to her strategy to keep the tunes as high-energy, uptempo — and decidedly private — as possible. "She wanted to stay away from being personal," the producer said. "It's fun, it's basic and there's nothing wrong with that. It's about feeling good, celebrating womanhood. And if you don't dance to it, I really don't know what you're listening to." While the song titles have yet to be "100 percent" determined, Hill said that overall, Spears' sound is "bigger" and "more mature" than what we've heard from her before. "It's a new Britney," he said. "I come from hip-hop, so it's underlined with hip-hop, but I throw it down. It's got everything, it's electric, it's just wild." One song sounds like it belongs in a video game, while another has a hook and chorus that makes him laugh just thinking about it: "It's weird! It's catchy, but it's weird. It's hot."Now that Hills is moving into the mixing stage, he's just waiting to find out if any of his songs are contenders to be the album's first single, which is due to impact around September, according to Spears' record label. "It's ready to hit the clubs," Hills said. "You're going to hear it getting ready to go to the clubs, while you're getting your clothes on, in the car on the way to the clubs, everywhere. You're just going to hear it. Be prepared." -Nate Hills, Producer CAREER heat has a new barometer. No.1 hits are mandatory, but being hot right now means being on Britney Spears's comeback album. For her part, Spears has enlisted the best urban music makers on offer - Pharrell, NeYo, Nate "Danja" Hills and newcomer T-Pain. T-Pain has written and produced two tracks for Spears, titled Boyfriend and Cold As Fire. "They are rebellious songs," says T-Pain, 20, born Faheem Najim."It's her letting everybody know she doesn't care about all the c**p going on in the media." -T-Pain, Producer

August 3, 200718 yr I wouldn't really think any tracks were confirmed to be on the album that early in time. Maybe T-Pain has a lot of confidence in his track with Britney. Thank you so much for posting this! It's a great topic! Like Boyan said, it's great to see all that info in one spot. August 4, 200718 yr I still think that Lindsay Lohan title should be the official title. ;_; I would have like...so much respect for her if she did that. xD
August 5, 200718 yr I wonder if she's actually going to choose any of the titles that were in the poll. None of them are really THAT great.
