Shakin Stevens(Michael barratt) seemed to have a carreer by loosly impersonating Elvis. How did you guys see him,

a poor impersonator

an individual act with no "Elvis" connection whatsover

using the similar dress sense to get Elvis fans to like him and buy his music

I read he was signed to play Elvis at various stages of his life in the Jack Good musical Elvis on London's West end stage in 1977.

I must admit I quite liked him in the early 80's, but didn't indulge in actually buying any of his records.

I was never a fan of his, but he was ok, and was quite successfull. I feel he has made a good living off impersonating Elvis without actually saying that's what he was doing. I haven't ever bought his music either, but I wouldn't change the radio station just because it came on the air.

I must admit that I used to think he was cute but I was never a real fan and I never bought any of his records. He was asked by Jack Good to portray the middle period of Elvis' life in the stage musical 'Elvis'. Apparently he wanted to find the right singer who could ''convey that special magic... the indefinable atmosphere and feeling which Presley conjured up every time he walked out on to the spotlight.'' I never saw the musical but apparently he didn't want to do an 'impersonation' of Elvis.
