May 6, 200817 yr Author Had to bump this thread since there´s loads of guests viewing  Colombian pop star both entertains and educates at shows La Vida World Tour With all the drive of a true pop idol, Juanes crisscrosses the highways of the United States, working tirelessly. The Colombian singer-songwriter began his “Juanes: La Vida World Tour” in New York City on March 5, and he's worked every day since. He brings his music, a blend of Colombian folk with a touch of pop and rock, to the San Diego Sports Arena tomorrow. Given his superstar status, he doesn't have to give interviews. But he does, speaking about the passions that drive him – the thrill of playing live and the social causes he is promoting worldwide. Juanes, 35, does not talk about his accomplishments, like the Billboard Award for Latin Pop Album of the Year that he received for his fourth release, “La Vida Es Un Ratico,” or his 12 Latin Grammys, or his having been named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080502/images/juanes220.jpg Neither does he touch on the 6 million legal downloads of his hit single “Me Enamora,” which shot to the top of the charts in 14 countries and, by the time the album was released, had spent seven weeks atop the Billboard charts. What he wants to talk about is why he's traveling by bus across the country; he will visit 30 cities in all before heading to Europe. “When we get on stage, it's as if everything else disappears,” he said during a stop last week in El Paso, Texas. “The people give you a reason for being. I even get a little embarrassed because, if they let me, I'd play for five hours. “Playing live makes up for all the hours of riding on the bus.” Juanes thinks his audiences are similar in the cities he's played. “They get excited by the same songs,” he says, noting that one of their favorites is “La Camisa Negra,” one of his trademark hits. His least-favorite part of touring is traveling by bus 14 hours or more or flying to some faraway locale. “You miss your family a lot.” His family – wife Karen Martínez and daughters Paloma and Luna, 5 and 4, respectively – divide time between homes in Miami and Medellín, Colombia. These days, though, they are accompanying him on the road. When he has a day off, he goes to a movie or restaurant with them. Juanes has earned respect not only for his music, but also for his commitment to the causes he has embraced since his career began. Fighting against anti-personnel mines in Colombia is one of them. Recently, he organized the Concert for Peace, on the Colombia and Venezuela border, which featured some of the e biggest stars of Latin American music, like Juan Luis Guerra, Alejandro Sanz, Miguel Bosé and Ricardo Montaner. On May 17, Juanes will perform at one of the two concerts organized by ALAS, a group that supports education in Latin America; the concerts will take place simultaneously in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Mexico City. Juanes sees music as the ideal medium to get people's attention. “We help to place these issues on the public's agenda. In my case, I use music to educate my audience, in the best sense of the word. To build alliances with different governments, to create a fund.” Solving the problem of lack of education with one concert is impossible, he acknowledges. “But it helps to focus attention so governments become motivated to do something, and so they see that young people are concerned about the problem.” Thanks to Lilia O'Hara ^_^ "Gotas de Agua Dulce" is the title of the second single released by Juanes from his fourth studio album La Vida... Es Un Ratico. The track debuted in the United States Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart at number 33 in January 19, 2008, and in the week of February 23, 2008, the single peaked at number 1, dethroning his own single "Me Enamora" which spent 20 non-consecutive weeks at the summit. On the World Latin Top 30 Singles chart, which compiles music information from Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Italy, Chile and US, the single peaked at number 1 for four weeks. Rumoured next single: "Tres"
