Love in the Time of Cholera directed by Mike Newell is coming out in november 16th (US release) its a drama/romance based on the classic best selling novel by the great writer Gabriel García Márquez who is also a personal friend of shakira

we know shakira will contribute 3 songs

will this film be any good? i looked at the production pictures and it looks like a tv movie <_< no really big stars attached to the project like an indie film. but mike newell has directed big films like Four Weddings and a Funeral, Harry Plopper and the Goblet of Fire plus edgy and critically successful Donnie Brasco

i hope its really good and a critical success cause hopefully shakira could get nominations for best song at the oscars? maybe i'm dreamin. the film is completed it should go to film festivals to generate awareness maybe the songs will leak soon in september/october? what are we expecting from her? im thinking atmospheric live orchestra feel type songs with latin sounds and maybe 1 uptempo earthy track, it would be great to hear a shakira song and her singing in the cinema

update: two of the songs she will collaborate with Pedro Aznar an argentinian rock singer, apparently they both came to the UK between 16-19th july to record it here

Apparently, someone got to see an advance screening of the film or something, and they got to hear one of the songs which was kind of like a chant. I don't know how true that is though because that was posted on imdb before she was meant to have recorded the songs. Although Shakira did say that the songs were "unfinished" a while ago so maybe they used a demo?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to them!
