Drinks manufacturer Marcos Carrington has hit back at Jon Bon Jovi after the singer sued him for the elleged infringement of his trademarked name, denying that his energy drink Mijovi infringes on Bon Jovi's name or that fans would think that the singer had endorsed it. Bon Jovi launched a lawsuit after he spotted a bottle of Mijovi on sale. His lawyers issued Carrington with a cease and desist letter, saying that one phase on the can, 'itsmijovi, itsmilife', was an attempt to associate the drink with Bon Jovi's hit 'It's My Life'. Although Carrington is willing to drop itsmilife from the brand, the name stays. He says he called it after his girlfriend Jovita. "The name itself was inspired by Jovi, short for Jovita," he says. "It has nothing to do with Bon Jovi." Unfortunatly for the rocker, Carrington seems to have the law on his side. He has already applied for a trademark for Mijovi - and the US Patent Office has already said it doesn't conflict with any other trademarks in the market.
