Posted August 2, 200717 yr Why do they think because they are famous either on the big screen or Tv, they think they can sing as well, there might be the odd exception but on the whole...........nope Ones that spring to mind: Richard Harris...............Macarthur Park got to #4 in 1968 Telly Savalas................If #1 in 1975 Clint Eastwood..............I talk to the trees #18 in 1970 Lee Marvin...................Wondering Star #1 in 1970 Any others?
August 3, 200717 yr Bruce Willis - Return of Bruno album I liked, had some good songs on it, he is the only singer that comes to mind as a credible singer
August 3, 200717 yr The most notorious example has to be William "Capt. Kirk" Shatner and his absolutely HILARIOUSLY bad version of "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds".....
August 3, 200717 yr Bruce Willis - Return of Bruno album I liked, had some good songs on it, he is the only singer that comes to mind as a credible singer TBH mate, I thought Willis was c**p.... "Under The Boardwalk"????? Just cashing in on that whole 50s nostalgia thing that was going on in the late 80s tbh....
August 3, 200717 yr TBH mate, I thought Willis was c**p.... "Under The Boardwalk"????? Just cashing in on that whole 50s nostalgia thing that was going on in the late 80s tbh.... I thought he had a reasonable voice tbh, most actors do novelty records or embarrass themselves but Willis gave it a serious attempt and I thought the result was quite credible although I would not put it anywhere near my Top 200 albums ever etc but I would say that that album was the most credible recording attempt by an actor that I have heard :)
August 3, 200717 yr I don't know if he counts as an actor but I have an album by Vinnie Jones where he does cover versions of old swing, blues, rock and roll songs etc and a couple of them were surprisingly good
August 3, 200717 yr Kate Winslet got to number 6 with 'What If' in Christmas 2001. She had a pretty decent voice actually. Russel Crowe has a band called 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. Quite a lot of soap actors have tried to make albums or singles. One of the most bizarre was Coronation Street actor Matthew Marsden dueting with Destiny's Child for 'She's Gone'. Bill Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) has released a few albums apparently, I seem to remember them being advertised on TV a lot about 10 years ago. I could be wrong, but I think the guy who played Curly Watts in Coronation Street released an album as well. Will Mellor, somewhere between him being in Hollyoaks and being in Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps got to number 5 with 'When I Need You' in 1998. Oh, and Sally Lindsay who played Shelly in Coronation Street has technically had a number one single, as she was in St. Winifrid's School Choir. Edited August 5, 200717 yr by ghostwriter

Stefan Dennis - Neighbours Craig McLachlen - Neighbours Robson & Jerome Anita Dobson - Eastenders Sid Owen - Eastenders Jimmy Nail Dennis Waterman David Hasselhoff Wendy Richard - Although she only talked her way through Mike Sarne's #1 from 1962 Come Outside and the follow-up Will I What #18 Lorne Green of Bonanza fame - Ringo UK#22 and US #1 in 1964 Edited August 4, 200717 yr by Euro Music
August 3, 200717 yr Stefan Dennis "tune" was sooooooo bad it's a classic. I rather like Dennis Waterman's "I can be so good for you" from Minder
August 3, 200717 yr Billie Piper (although to be fair to her autobiography she thought her records were rubbish & that she was a rubbish singer anyway).
August 3, 200717 yr Here's a couple of others for you to ponder... Patrick Swayze- She's Like The Wind Don Johnson-Heartbeat Both wwere recorded in the late 80's-early 90's, IIRC

August 4, 200717 yr Billie Piper (although to be fair to her autobiography she thought her records were rubbish & that she was a rubbish singer anyway). well i suppose here you could also add Holly Valance, Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, Linsday Lohan etc etc  http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/77/MMVA2007_Hilary_Duff_1.jpg

If a single got to #1 then someone liked it. You could question whether Kylie Minogue can sing, after all she gained popularity as a Neighbours actress.
August 4, 200717 yr You could question whether Kylie Minogue can sing, after all she gained popularity as a Neighbours actress. if neighbour assocation was not there would she been seen much more in the commercial dance sphere of things if coming out now??? you know a bit like Will Young - from reality TV competition - total pop vs James Morrison - not from reality tv -creative singer-songwriter and upscale artiste
August 4, 200717 yr Sal Mineo - 'Start moving (in my direction)'. He was best known for his role in 'Rebel without a cause' Mae West made a couple of hilariously kitch albums in the sixties, covering things like 'Day tripper' and 'Twist and shout'. David Hemmings made a surprisingly good sixties album ('David Hemmings happens') with help from The Byrds (!). But then he had been an opera singer in his youth! David McCallum (Ilya from 'Man from UNCLE') made some records in the sixties, produced by David Axelrod. One track was sampled by Dr Dre on 'Next episode'. Contemporary actor Jared Leto is singer/guitarist in a band called '30 Seconds To Mars'. Anyone know what they sound like? Keanu Reeves was the bass player in grunge band Dogstar in the nineties but, thankfully, I don't think he sang! Edited August 4, 200717 yr by 45cat
August 4, 200717 yr Didn't Laurence Olivier bring out a dance record once too ? there was I am sure a dance record that was made up entirely of talking by Olivier pretty much
