September 28, 200717 yr Abortion is not birth control and rarely used as such, sure there might be a few people who have mis-used it, by does that mean everyone else should suffer because of that, no. As for those of you that argue its a human life etc.... a fotues can not survive independently until it reaches 20 odd weeks and most countries ban abortion at around this point except for extreme circumstances, some people have also stated that new born babies can't survive without their mothers either, but there is a huge difference, while in the womb the foetus is totally dependent on one person, who should have complete control over their own body, once outside the womb the child is not reliant solely on the mother as so many posters seem to state. Yes the mother is generally the main care giver but anybody could look after a newborn, and there is a big distinction in law from the moment of birth we are legal people before birth we are not. All those people that talk about abortion being immoral is not helpful, people who truly believe that should be asking the government to support mothers more, but yet funny enough a lot of these people often call single mothers welfare spongers, and their children problems, so it's no wonder many of these young woman who find themselves in this position have an abortion.
