Congratulations to the three new winners, :cheer: there's only six more places left now so good luck everyone.

I'm really hoping its someone we know.....I have said so & am now as popular as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip

Plus I think its the only way we'll get any decent feedback so I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

I think it looks like this weeks winners have been justly rewarded for effort they've put into their entries this time. A much better thought out set of answers imo....as if I would know anything about winning competitions!! :D

Still don't know who anyone is though :( ......maybe they've been subjected to a vow of total secrecy ;)

The 'law of averages' where we must surely know one or two members willing to share some of their experience with us isn't working very well in our favour yet, is it? :(

I'm really hoping its someone we know.....I have said so & am now as popular as a rattlesnake in a lucky dip

 me too because I agreed with you

I see it now as a BMG promotional thing...

maggiemags I don't think the winners are forbidden to make themselves known...

I'm still remaining ever the optimist, but I love your post Tillywhim.

Just out of curiousity, what sort of feedback does anyone think we might have got if someone we knew won a place? ;)

See, I'm of the opinion that besides the normal clothes, hair and stubble description, there's going to be very little to tell, venue & menu aside of course :D

I've got a sneaky, sneaky feeling that some peeps are thinking that the guests might be privvy to Will's future plans, album release, new tour, acting role maybe, and none of us lot are going to know about it without having one of our agents perfoming their duty on the day.

Seriously though, Will's a wiley old bird who knows how to keep his mouth zipped and I think this dinner will be exactly what it says on the tin, all about the guests lives and very little about his own. :D

I'm very happy for anyone that wins, of course I'd have liked some of the lovely people that I know from the sites to be amongst them (to tell truth, there's a couple over there that I bl***y hope won't win though ;) )

I've always thought the same Marguerite. Had to smile at one of two saying they wouldn't feel they were able to divulge any private conversations they had with Will. Do they think he is about to bear his soul? :P

How dreadful some winners are made to feel less fans than those of us who post on sites.. :(

from the O/S.

I am a winner of the dinner with Will, I am a huge fan of Will's have followed him right from the begining... have been to at least 5 of his concerts each tour, went 4 times to see the Vortex, I read his website everyday.. am I less of a fan because I do not post? I don't think so.... I would post but if I am honest I find this site and Devoted very cliquey and unfriendly , you seem to have a lot of bitchiness and arguments which puts me off posting, this thread is a typical example I do wonder at times what Will himself would think if he read this site... pause for thought there people

so glad i didn't enter.

I'd just like some regulars to win...I don't see why thats perceived as wrong?

It's not about regular posters on a site, it's about his fans. someone is not more of a fan just because they say hi to the few that post on one site or another. i have been on Devoted for years...i have seen posters come and go..am I a better fan because i have stayed the Devoted distance?..no.. i just post still while others grew tired of it and stopped.

i just popped over to the O/S to read that thread...he's not ours more because we post about him is he?

i don't know..it's not a dig at you Tilly or anyone. :( .it just made me feel sad that someone is made to feel less worthy because they don't vocalise their 'Devotion' as much as the rest of us.

S'ok hun...I know your not having a dig :D

....but its MY feelings I'm talking about...MINE!! And hand on heart...I want someone I know to win......because they deserve it IMO

As for the others...fans or not....I just dont know them...so I cant wish for a perfect stranger to win over someone I have got to know over the last five years.....

Its the way I feel and I will not back track.......I wont I wont I wont http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/boese/a010.gif

:D

Well I've decided to chill out about the whole thing now B) . I've taken the competition far too seriously in ALL respects because ,I can't deny it, it would have been the chance of a lifetime to spend time with Will in such a informal situation.

I freely admit I misunderstood Will's intentions about giving fans from his website ( and not the entire Sun readership) an exclusive chance to meet him at such a special event and I admit to being annoyed that I didn't think the first lot of entries could possibly have been 'the best' submitted, when some didn't even answer the question, but, that aside, I AM being comforted by the latest winner coming forward to explain his/her devotion to Will

What is bugging me though is how website fans have such a poor reputation for bitchiness and for being cliquey. :(

My heart sank to my boots when I read Roobedoo's post on the OS :(

Of course fans who choose not to post on the sites are not lesser fans, most people would accept that, but when the opportunity is there in front of you to SHARE in Will's career, and interact with fellow fans, then I don't think they realise quite what they're missing out on, by staying 'in the wings'.

We have our squabbles, that's true, but the fun we've had and the friendships made ( not cliques  )on the sites overrides any of the upsets, a thousand times.

I'm coming round to the theory that maybe 19 out of every 20 members don't feel inclined to post on the sites, and this would explain why nobody knows a winner!

I had in my mind that by the law of averages we WOULD have a winner who posts, so , again, I got that wrong too, evidently

Ignorance i.e. not realising so many fans were silent, in this case, does tend to breed suspicions, and I still think it was understandable for some of us to be worried that Will might not get 'genuine' fans at his party.

If I was lucky enough to be invited as a guest I would never dream of not coming back to the sites and saying SOMETHING about the evening, even if all I could remember was the colour of Will's shirt!

I've grown up with a sharing mentality in the two communities in the past 5 years and , as fantastic as it would be on a personal level, I know how much it would mean to the site fans to share just a little in the experience.

As for what I would hope to hear from any reports coming back from the dinner........ what was on the menu, Will's ideal dinner guests, an ESTIMATED album release date , or an idea of what he gained from his Vortex acting experience, if he's working with any different writers etc ...Oh I don't know, but nothing that would be a state secret!!!

He must be expecting questions of that nature, surely........ it's unrealistic to think they'll all be talking about the price of fish or whatever and avoiding anything work related, isn't it?!

Its the way I feel and I will not back track.......I wont I wont I wont http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/midi/boese/a010.gif

:D

I wouldn't expect you to.. :D me either....i am what i am and all that.

an ESTIMATED album release date

If i could know one thing it would be that  ..it's been so long since we had new music.

but Will's not always the most reliable source in any case. ..he'd say March and it'll end up being August or something..

Hi maggiemags, it's good to see you popping over here and hi to samsung as well, :hi: I've entered and I'm not expecting to win as I've never won anything in my life so far, I treasure the 5 mins I spent in his company at the theatre in Manchester and I would be over the moon if I was one of the lucky six remaining names picked, but I'll get over it if I'm not and still enter every damn comp that comes up in the future.

I honestly couldn't give a rat's @rse whether or not any of the winners are regular-posting members of Will's fan-sites or not.

I don't want any 'reports' from anyone. I don't care. If I'm not one of the lucky winners fortunate enough to be sitting there gazing at those green eyes and luscious lips in person, why would I want to torture myself by listening to tales from those who were there??

Besides, I don't really 'know' anyone that well on the sites. There are names I can put faces to, after seeing people at concerts many times ......... but only one or two who I would consider a real friend, that I would be genuinely delighted for if they won. As for any other Devoted or OS members, well, congratulations to anyone who does win, have a fab time ....... but I don't really want or need to hear any details. :) And of course Will isn't going to give away anything personal about himself or his work plans. As if!!

I really can't understand that anybody would think that some of the the entrants might not be 'genuine' (whatever that is) or 'deserving' enough fans simply because they may or may not be actively posting members on the fan-sites. What the hell difference does that make?? Would they really want to take a day or more off work, paying travel and accommodation costs themselves, just to have a free meal with a pop star they're only marginally interested in? I think not.

I think the poster / winner who mentions the negatives about becoming involved in the forums has a point. I used to post a lot more actively on Devoted, and there have been some friendships made, and good times fondly remembered. But, if I'm honest, I've encountered more of the cliqueyness and backstabbing than the warm and fuzzy stuff. It's a political minefield, tbh, and it's easier to stand still and just look around rather than risk making a wrong move and have it blow up in your face.

Although only an occasional poster nowadays, I'm still just as devoted a fan of Will as I have been since Day 1, and I'm sure all the winners of the comp are huge fans too. The fact that I don't recognise any of their names at all doesn't make me think that they are any more or less deserving of their place at that table than myself, my friends, or any other fans I've bumped into at gigs. In fact, it makes me far happier to think that the winners will all be people who've never had the opportunity to meet Will before. I sincerely hope this is the case. :)

Now I can identify with this sentiment

Takes me back to the Chilham thread.....I just couldn't bear to read it in the end...think I caught up about 3 months later :D
