The two bands will be battling it out for the best single and best album awards, while Enter Shikari is also up for best live band and best British band, and My Chemical Romance has been nominated for best video and best international band. Chicago-based emo group Fall Out Boy have achieved three nominations – for best album, best video and best international band. Funeral For A Friend, Lostprophets, Biffy Clyro and Muse take on Machine Head, Hellogoodbye and 30 Seconds To Mars, all with two nominations each. Gallows and Wales’ Kids In Glass Houses are up for best British newcomer against The Ghost Of A Thousand, YouMeAt6 and Lost Alone. Chicago pop-rockers Madina Lake take on actor Jared Leto’s emo venture 30 Seconds To Mars in the category of best international newcomer, alongside Job For a Cowboy, The Sleeping and Hellogoodbye. Kerrang! deputy editor Daniel Lane says, “It’s been a pretty incredible year for our music. It’s fantastic to see the number of British bands on the nominees list. And I guess the question on everyone's lips is, Can home-grown DIY rockers Enter Shikari defeat US emo heavy weights My Chemical Romance? We'll have to see on the night." Recipients for the icon, hall of fame, hard rock hero and classic songwriter awards will be announced on the night, which is taking place at the Brewery in East London. Over 380,000 votes were cast through Kerrang! magazine and at www.kerrang.com.

August 10, 200717 yr I like Enter Shikari and, yeah, even though they are metal as a base (a base metal?) I think they fit into indie. Any band willing to combine hardcore rave with metal riffs deserves a nod and certainly should kick the ass of MCR, FOB and all the other c**p 3 letter acronym bands.
August 10, 200717 yr Kerrang awards should be in the Rock/metal forum, even though Kerrang is up all the commercial bands arses.
