i gather they have made an uptodate film of this quintessential english light comedy film from the 50's...

now tbh im not sure itll work in todays world. back in the 50's schoolgirls were innocent, and very few if any at all indulged in drinking, sex, drugs.. so im interested to see how this notion can be brought upto date and retain its old fashioned englishness without dipping into the gutter of realism that is todays youth.

is the remake set in the 50's?... i hope so, as the original films are somewhat uncomfortable to watch in todays climate (in places.... i mean 'flash harry? (george cole at his best imho) gets complete access to the girls dormatories?... maybe 50 years ago but surely its just wrong now)

perhaps this will be yet another case of 'best left alone'.... (like the titanic, awful modern version dispite some areas being more accurate then the original 'a night to remember', which imho, was superb)

I dont really see just how the hell they can do this film in the Britain of 2007. I mean, come on, the exploits of today's youth makes the St Trinians girls seem like perfect little angels in comparison...

And yeah, the whole "Flash Harry" thing would just get the papers into another bout of "paedomania"....

No, I think this is really best left well enough alone, St Trinians belongs to a much more 'innocent' time and cant possibly be taken out of the socio-political context of the 50s/early 60s.. Remember what happened when they tried to do a similar thing with remakes of quintessentially 60s films like "Alfie" and "The Italian Job", and what utter cinematic disasters those turned out to be.... Wouldn't be surprised if some prat tried to do the same thing with "Blow Up" at some point, now that Antonioni's dead...

i wasnt disagreeing, nor having a go at him, i was asking, politely, a civil question.

well it could be said that 99% of people are here just to list things, its like a mad list obsession, and most of the time its completely utterly pointless

however respect due man for getting some discussion going

Plot summary for St. Trinian's (2007)

the girls at the school are bankrupt again so to save the school they decide to steal the girl with the pearl earring from the national gallery, to get there they need to enter the school challange cup and win by using their 'wit' and 'charm'.

Starring Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Stephen Fry, Russell Brand (as Flash Harry).

Released 21 December 2007

source: IMDB

It doesn't say whether its set in the 50's or today, but seems like a pointless movie imo.

russel brand as flash harry?... PMSL..... hes a big enough perv as it is! mind you, the 'pupils' seem to be adult women, i suppose in these 'paedogedden' days using real kids would be rather frowned on!

..Actually in some ways adult women pretending to be schoolgirls is actually worse on certain levels.....

I just do not think this film is a good idea, for so many reasons....

Having Russel Brand playing Flash Harry is just well dodgy....

yeah there's an overview in one of my mags about all that riot grrrl stuff that i've been meaning to read. babes in toyland, is that one of those bands? actually i've just read the fact that one of we've got a fuzzbox and we're gonna use it joined babes in toyland after they had vinderlooed all the life out of the band, and arnt fuzzbox the ones who came up with the original idea of sporty spice, scary spice, ginger spice (but obv it would be fuzzbox names, totp mag just nicked the idea from them)

I think it looks really good :(
