Legendary Actor Charlton Heston Bravely Battles Alzheimers

by Jack Ryan,Houston Chronicle

May 1, 2006

According to a story in the Globe, screen legend Charton Heston, 81, is

in the final stages of Alzheimer's Disease, a terribly debilitating

condition that robs one of their memory and ability to function

normally, and is no longer able to carry out normal activities.

This fine man, once the epitome of robust health and fitness, who often

played demanding physical roles such as a gladiator, ape, and circus

performer, is stuggling now to just to make it gracefully through these

trying times.

Heston announced he had Alzheimer's disease in 2002, before it became

noticeable, and ever since then has stayed within the perimeter of his

Beverly Hills estate. A close friend of the Heston family told the

Globe: "He's way beyond the point of slight memory loss and

forgetfulness. He can hardly comprehend a thing anymore."

In a heartbreaking description of the strong man's condition, the

friend adds:

"Chuck can barely communicate... and he can no longer carry out daily

activities, like eating and walking, without assistance. His life,

pretty much, consists of sleeping and eating..."

"The most tragic thing is when he breaks down and cries for no reason

at all. You wonder what he's thinking about, but there's no way of

knowing. That's unbearable to witness."

imdb.com has this short biography of the star: "With features chiseled

in stone, who else but Charlton Heston could you picture as

Michelangelo, as Ben-Hur, as Moses? Heston's movie career took off with

The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) and reached light speed with Ben-Hur

(1959). Although he has played a pantheon of larger-than-life roles, he

usually prefers to talk about the day-to-day daily grind of the movie

business, and especially credits the writers and directors he has

worked for much of his success."

We will keep this fine man in our thoughts and prayers during the most

difficult role of his life, as he gave so much of himself to us through

his work.

Excuse me while I don't have any sympathy for the guy

As head of the NRA for many many years and the biggest lobbier of president after president for the allowing of guns to be legal in America he holds a lot of responsibility for America's ****ed up gun crazed society so while he might have been a great actor he has been an utterly repugnant individual

Do you think that this Jack Ryan of Houston Chronicle exists? or you you think he or she has taken their pen name from Tom Clancy as his writing style is just vomit inducing? :puke2: :puke2:
What a pathetic old $h!t, someone should really just shoot him and then grab his gun from his COLD DEAD HANDS.

Phew it wasn't just me that detests the guy then ;)

charton heston or Jack Ryan

Never knew that before

Certainly not, I cant stand the racist old fukk either.... <_< Him and John Wayne, redneck idiots the pair of 'em.....

Anyone who goes to a place like Columbine mere weeks after they've just had a bloody massacre take place and say "guns are wonderful" is a grade-A b/astard as far as I'm concerned, could you imagine someone doing that in Dunblane....? The mind boggles....

Never knew that before

Watch "Bowling For Columbine" mate, then you'll see just how much of a c**t he actually is.... Back in '92 he objected to the lyrics in Ice-T's "Body Count" album (as well as objecting other Rap and Metal artists), saying that they were "violent", well, I never heard of anyone being killed by artistic expression. And then he becomes a mouthpiece for the NRA!! Hypocritical w/anker.... <_<
