Posted May 1, 200619 yr From Donnalewis.com 4/27/06 - A New Album Hi Everybody, Before anything else I want to say a very big thank you to all of you who've continued to write to me through the site. I know it's been a while since I've been able to write back but I've read every single one of your emails and I can't express how much I appreciate your kind words, your stories and your support. You all give me such inspiration and drive me on to make more music. I can't believe how quickly the last few years have flown by. It seems like yesterday that I was pregnant and writing songs for my new record, 'In the Pink.' It's taken a long time for me to complete this album, but there was a two year pause in the process after the birth of my son, Archie. I didn't plan on it being that long, time just flashed by. Being with him every day has been the most wonderful and incredible time of my life and I wouldn't have missed a second of it for anything. The record really began in 2002 putting the tracks together with Simon Duffy, whom I first met in Italy back in `99/'00. He's a great guy - so talented and I love working with him. During this time we also co-wrote a song called 'Obsession' which is on the new record. Then Archie came along and the work came to a stop for a while. Back in April of last year, I met up with my good friend Gerry Leonard. Gerry played guitars on my first two records - he's amazing! We got to chatting about my record and it just so happened that he was on a few months break from a very busy touring schedule. I really wanted to work with Gerry again and I played him the songs we had so far and asked him of he would produce the record with me - he agreed. Working with Gerry has been an absolute Joy, he is an incredibly talented musician and his production input has brought an organic sense to the record that wouldn't have been there without him. We had an ambitious goal to get everything else recorded in an eight week window. Gerry brought in Doug Yowell (drums) and Jeff Allan (bass) and then later on we had Jay Belarose, David Torn, Tony Levin, Harvey Jones and Blue Nile's Robert Bell do some work on the tracks. ""Everything was recorded by August and then we had a break for a while before mixing started in December. I'm going to talk more about the musicians on the record in future updates. Kevin Killen mixed the record (except for one song which was mixed by Hector Castillo). Kevin worked with me on my first album. He has fantastic ears and a great vocal sensibility - he really has done an amazing job with 'In the Pink.' I really love this record and I actually enjoy listening to it which is a new experience for me. We have just had some packages put together and my management team are working on establishing which label partners we will release the record with. Of course I will keep you all informed of when it will be available and in the meantime, I plan to soon put up some track clips on the site for you to download and have a listen. Thanks again to all of you for your support and your patience. Love, Donna

May 2, 200619 yr She has been gone a long time. You guys are probably too young to remember I Love You Always Forever! She also had a great deut with Richard Marx called At the Beginning. I don't think it charted in the UK sadly.
