having watched both Licence to Wed  and Evan Almighty, would anyone else agree that watching the same father ted episodes (that are one after studio 60 on more 4 tonight at midnight) for about the hundredth time this year  must better than going out of your way to watch either of these films?

have you seen the film???

not yet i am seeing it next week but its looks like the type of film i would like ^_^
How the f*** is the 'Passion Of The Christ' a comedy?
Frankly, I reckon I'd rather watch repeats of "Father Ted" or even "Vicar of Dibley" than any of these lousy films that are coming out associated with religion...

here here.... i cant abide most modern films, especially with the likes of robin williams or jim carey in.

bruce/even almighty typify the type of film i detest.

The title suggests that Bruce Almight was good...and it isn't probably a sarcastic joke...that film had absolutely zero funny jokes just like most Jim Carrey films (and the ones that actually have a few have those in the trailers and after seeing those about 1000 times be4 the film actually opens even those aren't funny anymore...the only really funny 1 IMO is Dumb & Dumber). But still I think Evan is probably even much worse than the crappy Bruce . A good religious comedy for the title would have been Saved! That actually is quite funny (and even Mandy Moore is ok in it).

Robin Williams has done some pretty good films, but they tend NOT to be comedies... "One Hour Photo" was surprisingly effective, a quite brilliant and disturbing character study of a man obsessed with this family whose photos he develops.. A bit "Taxi Driver" meets "Henry" in some ways.. The part he plays in "Insomnia" was pretty good as well.. Williams is actually quite great at playing psychos, he manages to tap into this quite disturbing side to his nature... His comedies, however, tend to be totally cringeworthy and annoying as hell...

Carrey is another one who does well when playing straight - "Truman Show", "Man On The Moon" and especially the excellent "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"....

Dont write these guys off totally mate, they're only c**p when they do "comedy"....

I tried sitting through the thoroughly AWFUL, about-as-funny-as-throat-cancer, "Bruce Almighty"... I got about halfway through before I just had to turn the DVD off... "Saved", I never watched tbh...

yeah for once no sarcasm, who would have thought

well it's more of a benchmark than a proclimation of the second coming, its not saying that bruce almighty will save your life, its not saying that bruce almighty is like getting jiggy with jessica biel, iits not saying that you will die laughing is so funny, its just saying its good, its alright, better than these two others (and rem that one DOES feat. Mandy which should be a plus point!!!) but actually kinda average kinda good.

you know what bruce almighty's like, you may not like JC (thats Jim not Jesus!!!) but it does its job. its one of those films that you can stick on itv2 and yeah it does the job while you sort stuff out, try to read 'sight and sound magazine', mess about, eat. switch off your brain and it doesnt matter if you only watch 15% you know whats happening. I know Me. Myself and Irene would be better, but ITV2 have worn the tape out

however thats not really a comedy film is it, even tho Robin Williams is playing a comic character as its real charcter (it a bit like Carrey doing Latka in Taxi)

Yeah Truman Show excellent and one of those films you can watch over and over again (and not just put on to read Artrocker too  )

Yeah i liked Saved, however i've got it on DVD and i dont think i bothered with it when it was on tv.

like Eagle vs Shark i liked that a lot, but i guess its one of those films i wouldnt bother with if it was on film4 late at night and father ted was on the other. i would watch ted again

You have yet to answer the question...

Isn't it obvious...I mean what did u think about it...a drama? Did any1 (except some religous fanatics) really take it as anything else as a comedy...

And for Tiger...even if u switch off your brain u do (or at least I do) still expect a film advertised as a comedy to have at least one funny joke in it...I mean otherwise we could call any film a comedy...

Isn't it obvious...I mean what did u think about it...a drama? Did any1 (except some religous fanatics) really take it as anything else as a comedy...

Personally, I took "Passion of the Christ" as being an insulting, anti-semitic piece of sh!t..... <_< And nobody can claim otherwise in the face of Mel Gibson's "drunken" rants about Jewish people and the fact that his father was a Nazi sympathiser. Like father, like son... Both ultra-conservative, religious fanatics....

yeah but he's ace as Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon series  so all can be forgiven :)

Sorry John, but he's a racist tw@t regardless of how "ace" Richard Donner made "Lethal Weapon" look... I cant even really look at a Mel Gibson film anymore, they're tarnished forever now as far as I'm concerned....

So you don't believe in it, fair enough. But, to think that movie was a comedy is a BIT sick, especially considering it showed a man get beat to death.

I agree. I'd hardly call it a comedy of all things, it was a pretty disgusting film tbh, uncomfortable viewing at times actually. Very pointless as well, Mel Gibson made it as violent as he possibly could for obvious reasons. <_<

this moral panic is like totally retarded!!!

its like Daily Mail readers just wanting to have something complain about even if there is actually nothing to actually complain about but the paper will whip up a frenzy anyway or like fearing something because they've put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5. like The Guardian – Points of View advert featuring the skinhead and falling bricks.

the person who has stated its a comedy is the person who is complaining thats it has been stated as a comedy.

and remember...

Some things in life are bad

They can really make you mad

Other things just make you swear and curse.

When you're chewing on life's gristle

Don't grumble, give a whistle

And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...

Always look on the light side of life...
