not really roger miller as i am fully aware of 'little green apples' and 'england swings', i think they are well known..

I bet most people don't know them and they're hardly played a lot whereas King of the Road is one of those songs that just about everyone knows.

Sorry - keep forgettin' you're so old! :naughty:

1969 - Je T'aime...Moi Non Plus - Jane Birkin & Serge Gainsbourg

1969 - Sugar Sugar - Archies

Other one hit wonders are acts that had only one chart hit and nothing else charting however minor.

That's the official line from Guinness and the OCC

and also seeing as people in other countries are not blocked from viewing this site, obv some will have loads of hits in other countries.

btw was watching the #1 hits of 69 today with those two tracks above.

was wondering whether if anyone will actually think of re-activating the archies concept. could be the new s club

tbh its a wonder no one has... yet.... watertwat doest read this board does he?

Does anyone realise that there were only 7 TRUE one hit wonders in the 60s.

A true ohw is an act that had only one #1 hit and nothing else that charted ever.

The true ohw of the 60s were:

1969 - Sugar Sugar - Archies

However it could be said that the Archies are not a true one hit wonder, esp. if you believe that the lead singer of this band has anything to do with Blur

(Cuff-links)

Here are some of my favourites

Thunderclap Newman...........Something in the air

Zager & Evans..................In the year 2525

Overlanders...................Michelle

Scott McKenzie................San Francisco

Crazy World of Arthur Brown....................Fire

Easybeats - Friday on My Mind #6 1966

Also had Hello, How Are You #20

Hello How Are You deserved to be much bigger. I have the original single.

The Archies had a few hits in Australia, Jingle Jangle and Who's Your Baby are a couple that still get airplay and Get On The Line (The Sugar Sugar album's original title track) is a monster club hit. That still fills dancefloors everywhere.
I heard "Terry" by Twinkle last night. She only had one other minor hit with "Golden Lights". "Terry" is a classic death disc (like "Leader of the pack" and "Johnny remember me")

John Fred & His Playboys Judy In Disguise

my other fave which has already been mentioned

Thunderclap Newman Something in the air

However it could be said that the Archies are not a true one hit wonder

(Cuff-links)

The Cuff Links were a group of session musicians the also provided the sound of the Archies on their records.

Anyone else remember this beside Myself and Mushyman.

that was one annoying song! #1 for weeks, it really didnt deserve it! replaced by..... 2 little boys! gawd what a way to end the 60's.

ELOISE was barry ryan :) and he did have a string of minor hits that were actually quite good.

MOVE ON UP was from 1971 so will qualify when we do the ohw of the 70's :)

LOVE 'green tamborine'... :)

Here's Barry Ryan's follow-up to Eloise which peaked at #25 - Love Is Love
