Posted August 31, 200717 yr Any GM reviews you find, why not post them in here: We've heard Britney's comeback single 'Gimme More' and, well, it's not bad! The track starts with the words: "It's Britney, b***. I hear you, and I just want to dance with you". The track was produced by Timbaland protégé Nate Hills and had a saucy beat which will definitely fill the dancefloors in the clubs. Well done, girl! In other Britney news, legal documents have revealed that the cashed-up star earns $737,868 a month! But on the downside, her ex-manager Larry Rudolph, who staged the intervention to get her into rehab, has been subpoenaed by Kevin Federline's lawyer and will now have to testify against Britney in their custody case. http://entertainment.uk.msn.com/celebrity/...umentid=1722455
August 31, 200717 yr Britney's Shocking Comeback Single http://images.dennispub.com/blender/britglove.jpgWHO: Britney Spears WHAT: "Gimme More" WHY: At the end of Britney Spears' new single, producer Danjahandz (Justin Timberlake, Katharine McPhee) says, "Bet you didn't see this coming." He's right. Even if it's an obvious "SexyBack" retread (all the way down to the distorted vocals), the unsettling disco dazzler "Gimme More" is about as good a track as we could expect from a woman whose life has turned into a lurid, express line farce. Britney's breathy lyrics take on her tabloid stalkers in a way that's somewhere between completely self-aware, invincible and, dare we say, kinda artful. "They want more, well, I'll give them more," she says, standing up to a billion flash bulbs with a genuine potential smash hit behind her. She's not just bitching about the paparazzi — she's begging them for more with a smirk and some cocaine funk. Reverse psychology par excellence or a star admitting to her own dark, attention-craving desires? Either way, it's more intriguing than it should be. "It's Britney, b**ch," she says at the top of the track. Welcome back, b**ch. WHERE: Listen to the track here. http://images.dennispub.com/blender/fourstars.jpg 4 stars from blender.com :cheer:
August 31, 200717 yr Yahoo.com: Spears premieres `Gimme More' single By ERIN CARLSON, Associated Press Writer 48 minutes ago NEW YORK - It seems like forever since Britney Spears had six-pack abs and a hit song on the charts. But the fallen pop princess — tarnished by a tumultuous divorce, late-night partying and erratic behavior — is trying to get her music career back on track. For real this time. Her new single, "Gimme More," debuted Thursday night on the Web site of New York City pop station Z100, and a new album is due for release Nov. 13 by Jive Records, the label's representative, Wendy Washington, told The Associated Press on Friday. The song — a clubby, flirty dance track produced by Danja, a protege of hit-maker Timbaland — has the 25-year-old singer bringing back the thumping beats and breathy come-ons of her pop-star past. The song's opening line has an expletive. Sharon Dastur, a program director at Z100, says listener response has been positive. "A lot of people automatically had a negative attitude about it before hearing it," she said. "And then the reaction we've been getting, you know, people are so pleasantly surprised by it. You also have the people who have just been cheering on her comeback anyway." Spears, whose activities have been tabloid fodder since she split from Kevin Federline last November, hasn't released an album of all-new material since 2003's "In the Zone." She came out with a greatest-hits album in 2004, which included a cover of Bobby Brown's "My Prerogative." Spears, the mother of two young sons, has been taking baby steps toward a comeback. She has said she'd hoped to jump back into the music scene this year, and in May, staged several concerts at clubs in California. While her escapades may have alienated many of her fans, Spears can slip back into their good graces by teaming up with the right people: the music-makers behind some of today's hottest tracks, Dastur said. "At the end of the day, it is really all about the actual songs," Dastur said. "Her people have to make sure that she's being produced the right way. That the songs are the right songs for her to be coming out with."
August 31, 200717 yr More of a review of Brit's 2007 than a song review, but an interesting read all the same :P
