The director of music at AC/DC's record label Albert Music has discussed the long-awaited new album from the Australian rock band, reports SMH.com.au. It has now been more than six years since the band's last studio effort "Stiff Upper Lip."

Fifa Riccobono said the band had not decided upon a definite schedule for release, and still had not got into the recording studio. "I'm hanging out for it big time," she told. "There's no scheduling. They're ready to go and ready to record but there's no plan for it."

Riccobono said that the band had written a lot of material and practised new songs, but still have not got to the recording studio.

"The minute they do I'll be very, very happy."

The new album, which has held frustrated fans in anxious suspense since the rumour caught on the ageing rockers were planning a new disc, is as yet untitled.

Angus and Brian are only in their 50's

Jagger and co are well into their 60's and still recording

The last decent Rolling Stones album IMHO was "Some Girls" from 1978!

AC/DC for me died with Bon Scott, Johnson tries to be too much like Bon instead of having his own identity

I still love AC/DC as the genre is my fave but Bon was AC/DC

Agreed, they shoulda quit after "Highway To Hell"....

They've basically been doing the same album for about the past 25 years....  I cant see any 'radical departures' with this new one....

I will still buy that album though as I love that type of music particularly in the car :)

Johnson is alright though, Gary Holton would have been a better replacement for Bon though, didn't realise till last weekend that Holton was going to be Bon's replacement till the very last minute , been listening to Holton a lot last couple of days and he had a bloody good voice, VERY AC/DC ish, shame he died though he was great in Auf Wiedersehn Pet :(

I think that when it comes "old school" metal bands who are still around, you really cant beat Maiden, they've tried lots of different things with their music, but still maintained a definite sound that is uniquely theirs even with having several different vocalists who had quite different vocal styles. Their musical vision has had continuity, consistency and integrity over their very long career (almost three decades). Although some of their 90s work was patchy, they're really back with a vengeance now and have never really sounded tired, in fact, the past couple of albums sound more fresh than a lot of bands half their age...

Yeah too right I love Iron Maiden, The Paul Dianno days were definitely the best for me but they are a fabulous group

The likes of AC/DC and Iron Maiden etc are the last of their breed though :( the term rock music has been totally hijacked by $h!tty indie music so it needs the likes of AC/DC and Iron Maiden etc to keep true rock music alive

Agree with the sentiments, they pretty much are (don't forget about Judas Priest though...), I mean stuff like Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, et al are in absolutely NO WAY Rock Music, or even Indie, as they are both on big record labels (Indie used to mean bands who were on "Independent" record labels - eg Pixies, The Smiths, Stone Roses, etc..). But there are still some very good Rock/Metal bands out there these days - I've got a funny feeling you'd warm to a band called Dragonforce, an Old Skool rocker such as yourself should appreciate them, Dream Theatre and Queensrhyche are pretty good too. There's a lot of bloody good bands on the Continent that don't get any real Hype or Press attention in UK outside the specialist Metal press - Nightwish, After Forever, Epica, Finntroll.... There's still a lot of good 'Real Rock' out there, you just have to look for it...

John Fogerty (think thats his name) of Creedence Clearwater revival was talking on the radio the other night saying how good AC/DC are
