Take That are the bookies' favourites to bag an Oscar – with a song that hasn't even been released yet.

The tune in question, Rule The World, provides the soundtrack to Lock Stock producer Matthew Vaughn's new movie Stardust.

A fantasy adventure, which stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Sienna Miller, the movie premiered in America last month and comes to the UK on 19 October.

Take That have so far kept the full version of the song under wraps and will perform it for the first time at the National Movie Awards later this month.

The star-studded bash has been created to honour the top grossing films at the UK box office over the past year and will be screened on ITV the following night.

A Take That insider tells the Sun: 'The band are really excited because they have never played in front of an audience like that before.'

Looks like Robbie Williams will have to draw the curtains in his LA home next time the Oscars roll into town.

Exactly. You can't argue with popularity. Well you could, but you'd be wrong. -_-

STOP PRESS-ENGLAND IS NO LONGER IN EUROPE! :o :o :o

British rockers Muse are moving closer to stadium-filling status

GRAND PRAIRIE -- For so many English performers and bands, the story has been the same: Huge at home, not nearly as big in the United States. However popular Oasis, Robbie Williams, Blur, Pulp and the Manic Street Preachers became in England and Europe, they never achieved the same status over here.

And on it goes. But it's nothing to do with Robbie so I haven't posted the rest. :P

That Australian article is total bollox, who writes such $h!te? U2 are the worlds biggest band by a landslide, they last album won endless awards such as Grammy's etc, sold 11m, and their most recent tour is the second biggest in world history. Rob is the biggest male pop star in the planet and has sold more outside the US than anyone other singer or band this century. Oh yes, both past their primes indeed. Billy Joel is obviously. -_-

As for the TT song. Yet more little digs about Robbie being jealous of them. Eugh, it really would make you wonder if papers just go out onto the street and look for the most ignorant clueless t**** imaginable to then hire them as journalists. <_< The film has been a reletive flop in the US, so I can't see it being nominated for too many Oscars but who knows. I mean Robbie has been nominated for a Grammy before, did the press make a big deal out of that? Nope.

I heard the new TT single today. I thought it was quite ok actually.

It was the first play this morning. On Radio 2. :P
Oh, an upbeat song :o Well I never :o That is actually pretty good, but won't be #1 as Leona is out that week. -_-

Who is singing lead? Sounds like Mark at the beginning but then is it Gary?

sorry, to take you away from Take That's latest single

The trio Muse is becoming the exception to the rule. No, they're not selling out stadiums stateside as they have in England, but their sales and concert attendance are steadily climbing. How?

No. 1: They're doing it the old-fashioned way -- touring, touring, and touring some more.

Case in point: Sunday's well-attended show at Nokia Theatre was the band's third stop in North Texas in less than a year.

but you forgot the most important bit in the article. Didn't Robbie do a sell out gig at the Nokia Theatre in 99? ;)

Also, might be worthy of a mention, I read an article that mentions that the Kaiser Chiefs are not going to be touring the US, they are doing what Robbie did, ditching America, so they don't lose their success everywhere else.

Sound move I reckon.

People: Hugo Rifkind

Take That are to be the new faces (and, one assumes, bodies) of Marks & Spencer. We understand that the heart-throb boys (average age 37) will model the high street store’s autumn range in 2008.

After breaking up in 1996, the band reformed in 2005, minus Robbie Williams, who was arguably the most famous of the original five  . Perhaps the promise of some free M&S undies will tempt him back.

Well then ............ Barlows grandpa look will fit in perfectly  Jason on the other hand might scare away a few housewives and OAPs

Potteries entertainer Jonathan Wilkes is putting the final touches to his latest panto production - which he says will be the best yet.The popular performer is working with scriptwriter, former Coronation Street star Eric Potts, to add local touches to the Regent Theatre's production of Cinderella before rehearsals start next month.

And at the star-studded panto launch party yesterday, Jonathan hinted at possible cameo appearances by celebrity best friend Robbie Williams and Geordie duo Ant and Dec.

With a cast including former Dinnerladies and Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati, and West End sensation Louise Dearman, Jonathan says audiences can expect the "best panto Stoke-on-Trent has ever seen".

He said: "This year we have the best cast and the story is even better.

"I'm looking forward to starting rehearsals.

"I'm working on getting local issues in the script; I like to be very hands-on.

"I want Stoke to be the number one panto venue in the country and we're getting there."

He added: "Robbie is not busy at the moment so you never know - he might come along this year and we might get a couple of Geordies along too."

New cast member Shobna says she is looking forward to having a "good laugh" during the panto's run.

She said: "I've heard great things about this company and I think it's going to be fantastic."

Ticket sales for Cinderella - which runs from December 13 to January 13 - are already 55 per cent up on the same time last year.

Last year's Aladdin production became the Regent Theatre's biggest-selling show yet, with an average audience of 1,200 for each performance, and Cinderella looks set to smash the record again.

Kevin Wood, of show producers Family First Entertainment, said: "The Stoke-on-Trent pantomime is emerging as one of the leading shows in the country.

"The audiences are always phenomenal and the theatre has a magical atmosphere.

"Cinderella will be spectacular and Eric's script is written especially for the people of Stoke-on-Trent."

The show promises "dazzling sets and costumes, slapstick comedy, sensational songs, spellbinding dance routines and loads of audience participation".

And another special guest could turn up on stage - Jonathan's 17-month-old son Mickey.

Jonathan, who will play loveable rogue Buttons, said: "It looks like Mickey is following in my footsteps.

"He's very funny and a little star."

Are you looking forward to seeing the Regent panto this year?

IS ROBBIE COMING TO THE BALL? Thread merged with the September 2007 News Thread

Reminder that articles are to go into the Robbie News Sub-Forum unless they are really important (ie. new album etc) and can sustain their own thread in the main RW forum ;)

In all honesty, I wish Jonny could do the panto one year without Rob being in it.

At this rate we'll all be getting invites as well. Scotty and Ossy can be the Ugly sisters. I'll be Fairy Godmother. :smoke:
