Posted September 2, 200717 yr American teenager Sean Kingston jumps to the top of the UK charts Sean Kingston, a 17 year old American has toppled Kanye West from the top of the UK charts. Seans debut single Beautiful Girls which is based around a sample from Ben E Kings Stand By Me debuted at No.2 on downloads alone last week and gets a physical boost to the top of the chart. Kanye Wests Stronger which has been No.1 for the last fortnight swaps places with Sean on its 4th week in the top 3. Sean was heavily outselling Kanye all week and with iTunes showing little between the pair, Sean must have scored one of the biggest physical sellers of 2007. A quick reminder that this is the United Kingdom not America just in case the 70% American top 10 has led you to forget this fact. Another American band at No.3 and its a new peak for Plain White Ts whose single Hey There Delilah has been hovering around the top 10 for a few weeks and jumps into the top 3 with its physical release. Robyn has now occupied every position in the top 5 with this chart run: 5-1-2-3-4 and With Every Heartbeat is down a place for the Swede. Rihanna surges to No.5 after a physical release and it seems the curse of the No.2/non-top 10 hit is behind her as Umbrella hit No.1 and Shut Up & Drive now reaches a new peak of No.5. Timbaland slides a couple of places with his former No.1 The Way I Are and he is followed by Gym Class Heroes who tumble to No.7. Fergie spends an impressive 9th week in the top 10 and is back up a place with Big Girls Dont Cry just in front of Freaks who I predicted would climb into the top 10 this week with electro dance anthem The Creeps. Finishing off the top 10 is a new entry and the comeback single from James Blunt called 1973. The singer has had the biggest selling album of the 00s with Back To Bedlam and scored a 5 week No.1 with the slow starter Youre Beautiful in 2005. Athlete re-enter the chart at No.31 with Hurricane while seven songs debut inside the top 40 this week. Elvis Presley continues his series of re-releases with the classic Hound Dog in at No.14. Scouting For Girls debut at No.19 with the infectious Shes So lovely which should bounce into the top 10 next week. Natalie Imbruglia is back at No.23 with Glorious the first new single from her forthcoming Singles collection. A disappointing entry for a lady who has perhaps been underrated ever since her initial success in 1997/1998 with the almost million-selling single Torn and the huge album Left Of The Middle. Reverend & The Makers debut at No.30 with their new single, the follow up to the top 10 hit Heavyweight Champion Of The World while Maroon 5 are in at a lowly No.33 with their physically released new single Wake Up Call. The Twang are in at No.34 with Two Lovers while Armand Van Helden reaches the top 40 on downloads alone with I Want Your Soul the follow up to NYC Beat and the legendary My My My. Climbers in the top 40 come from Mika and KT Tunstall and Kano who both climb thanks to a physical release although No.21 is a disappointing lead for KTs new album Drastic Fantastic which comes out on September 10th. Related Link: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48788 Next week Sean Kingston should have enough of an advantage to spend a second week at No.1 though he has already fallen off the top of the iTunes chart. There are new releases from Armand Van Helden, James Blunt, Reverend & The Makers, Elvis Presley and Girls Aloud who are aiming for their 16th top 10 hit with Sexy! No, No, No the first single from their forthcoming 4th studio album. The album chart is once again led by Newton Faulkner while Amy Winehouse is back up to No.2. A refreshingly mostly British top 5 also features Mika and Kate Nash while Elvis is the only American representative. The only new entry in a stagnant top 20 is from Super Furry Animals at No.11. Hard-Fi should have no trouble going straight in at No.1 next week as a much more interesting 4th quarter looks set to kick the dying albums market back into shape. Star Profile: Scouting For Girls Scouting for Girls are a British musical group. The group were formed in late 2005 by Roy Stride (lead vocals/keyboards), Greg Churchouse (bass guitar/vocals) and Peter Ellard (percussion/vocals). Their music encompasses a lighthearted pop style reflecting on childhood innocence and experiences. The name Scouting for Girls is a play on words on the renowned Scouting for Boys handbook, first published in 1908 for the Scouts, which provides boys instructions on good citizenship. Continuing with the theme, the SFG fan club is known as the 'Wolfcubs'. Since 2005 the band has built-up a large internet based audience through their MySpace website together with regular chart success on the IntoMusic and Pulse Rated unsigned band websites. They have also played various London venues, including the The Dublin Castle (Camden), the Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Borderline (Charing Cross Road), The Water Rats (King's Cross) and Turnmill's (Farringdon). Not only have they performed at these popular venues, but they have also been fortunate enough to record a live session for BBC Radio One, a special session for Dermot O'Leary on BBC Radio Two, frequent feature on London's Xfm with DJ Marsha and they've recorded material for Gcap Media who own Capital 95.8, Classic FM, Choice FM, Core, Planet Rock, Xfm Network and other regional radio stations throughout the United Kingdom. On February 14, 2007, Scouting for Girls were signed to Epic UK (a division of Sony BMG) and they have recently been recording material for an album, due to be released in September 2007. Their first EP single, "It's Not About You", was released on June 25, 2007. The band's debut single "It's Not About You" was named single of the week (May 21st-28th 2007) on Scott Mills' Radio 1 show and played every day. They also had previous Radio 1 plays on "In New Music We Trust" before they signed to Epic Records. Their 2nd single "She's So Lovely" was again Scott Mills single of the week (July 23rd-30th 2007) Bio: Wikipedia

September 3, 200717 yr Isn't Rihanna from Barbados? So it would be 60% American?:funky: (Blunty, Freaks, Robyn, Rihanna all being un-American). Great read ^_^
September 4, 200717 yr I hate the fact that the Top 10 is 60% American. Apart from country and some of their rock US music is trash. Why should it be filled with US music and yet with the exception of Robyn, european music doesn't get much of a look in. There's plenty of good music in Europe, especially rock. All I can say is that the UK isn't ready for real music yet. Edited September 4, 200717 yr by Euro Music
