Posted September 3, 200717 yr Reverend and the Makers join in the Sheffield love in Arctic Monkeys teamed up with allies Reverend And The Makers for an intimate show in Ibiza last night (September 1). Sheffield's indie superstars played with close friend Jon McLure's band for the first time in over a year at the latest Ibiza Rocks with Sony Ericsson shows at the town's Bar M. Playing their most intimate European show in months, the Monkeys played an hour-long, hit-packed set on the Balearic island in front of an audience that included Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson, and DJs Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim and Zane Lowe, who had both been DJing on the island's flagship club Manumission the previous night. The Ibiza Rocks show also gave Alex Turner a chance to reunite with his housemate McLure. Gearing up for the release of their album 'The State Of Things', Reverend And The Makers they ran through a set featuring singles 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' and 'He Said He Loved Me', alongside an ironically delivered '18-30'. From the DJ booth, Zane Lowe tipped the band to return as headliners when Ibiza Rocks returns next year. Arctic Monkeys played: 'I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor' 'Brianstorm' 'Still Take You Home' 'Dancing Shoes' 'From The Ritz To The Rubble' 'Fake Tales Of San Francisco' 'Balaclava' 'Old Yellow Bricks' 'Flourescent Adolescent' 'This House Is A Circus' 'Teddy Picker' 'D Is For Dangerous' 'Mardy Bum' 'Do Me A Favour' 'The View From The Afternoon' 'When The Sun Goes Down' 'A Certain Romance' Source: NME.com Very good setlist. ^_^
September 3, 200717 yr Author The Arctic Monkeys threw out a trio of groupies following a gig in Ibiza because their admiration for the Sheffield rockers was too much, say reports. According to The Sun, the 'Mardy Bum' stars invited three girls back to their resort after finishing their Ibiza Rocks gig at Bar M, sending their personal driver to fetch the females. However, the Sheffield lads were apparently so overwhelmed by the girls that they ended up calling the same driver back 90 minutes later to take them away again. Earlier in the weekend, the group were forced to call off a scheduled DJ spot at Manumission after spending the day drinking champagne. The band's Bar M show audience was reportedly filled with celebrities, including Jade Jagger, Fatboy Slim and Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson. Source: Digital Spy
September 3, 200717 yr Author The article from above in more detail: FORGET Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight or even Wembley Stadium. I don’t say these things lightly, but the rock event of the summer took place on Saturday night on the former dance music haven of Ibiza. The ARCTIC MONKEYS capped off the biggest summer of their lives with a faultless gig on the sun-soaked party isle and cemented their place in rock history. The famously reserved lads are even starting to live the rock star lifestyle — but they’re not getting it quite right yet. They invited three groupies back to their villa in the early hours — then kicked them out just 90 minutes later. The fun started when the lads arrived in Ibiza on Friday, downed champagne all day then missed a planned DJ set in legendary nightclub Manumission. Their boozy heads weren’t helped by a trip to the island’s funfair — with frontman ALEX TURNER making himself sick on the stomach-turning bungee ride. The next day they followed their storming Ibiza Rocks gig at Bar M by insisting on drinking only Pina Coladas, all the time surrounded by female fans. At around 2.30am they left the bar and headed back to their villa. But, after a change of heart an hour later, they sent their driver back for three gorgeous girls who had been trying to chat them up earlier. And, yes, they did look good on the dancefloor. However, at around 5am they called the driver again to get rid of the girls after their, ahem, admiration all got a bit much. Erm, lads — a quick word of advice: Rock ’n roll legends aren’t normally made from visiting funfairs, sipping Pina Coladas and kicking stunning girls out of villas. It’s good to see the guys haven’t lost their schoolboy charm, though — despite a gig that showed they have graduated into rock’s all-time elite. The band were plagued by bad weather and technical problems during their headline shows at Glasto and Old Trafford this year. But with the pressure off on Saturday they delivered the show of their lives to just 700 lucky fans. The appearance was driven by the band’s desire to play the party isle, and it showed. The ’avin’ it holiday crowd — many freshly off that afternoon’s budget flight from Doncaster — created a delirious mosh pit that would have been more at home at a heavy metal gig. Celebs including JADE JAGGER, FATBOY SLIM and RICKY WILSON, with a pretty brunette, watched from the balcony. Most people left saying they’d just witnessed the best gig of their lives. Just two albums into their incredible career, the Arctics are leaving their rivals frozen in the fight to be this decade’s best band. First album stormers including When The Sun Goes Down, From The Ritz To The Rubble, I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and A Certain Romance all now sound like classics. Meanwhile new tracks like Do Me A Favour have given the band a richer, deeper tone. So five gold stars to them. Just one thing though, lads — get the groupie thing right next time Source: The Sun
September 4, 200717 yr Author They tour/play everywhere but like HERE :( Setlist is superb as always! B) I don't think they'll be coming back to England again now for a while either! Next tour they do for the 3rd album when it's been properly released will be an arena tour though I reckon.
