you have no choice, they are running the country.... following your logic on, nothing could be done unless its 100% flawless, so there would never be a flawless government...there would be no government!!! no structure to society, nothing.

yet again you are whipping up a frenzy over trivia.. this technology could easily be employed as an additional tool to help keep crime in check, at the moment logistically it isnt possible, but putting in safeguards, accountability, and a structure to it then theres no reason why it shouldnt be used. put down your pitchforks, put away your crosses and ffs embrace this as a decent step foreward.

Youre just repeating the same arguments over and over again mate... And yes, while I appreciate the points you are making, I am NOT going to submit to this, I'm willing to go to prison to defend my rights and my liberty because I at least aint some gutless prole who's gonna sit back and take this bullsh!t lying down, and I will take this all the way to Strasbourg if I have to.. If this is such a brilliant idea, then you tell me why NONE of our EU partners are even contemplating such measures.....

So bloody what if they're running the country... Like YOU'VE never wilfully disobeyed something that some w/anker tried to make you do in your life.....? Civil Disobiedience is a positive thing, nothing ever changed by people just "going with the flow"....

....... and YOU are also making the same arguments over and over again.. and as yet no one has come up with anything as strong to counter the benefits this technology will bring.

strasbourg?...pmsl... tell that to the victims of people caught by dna! what an INSULT to them! youd sooner they be victims without the culprit being convicted then give a swab of dna?... what are you hiding scott?

what are you hiding scott?

That's exactly the mentality I object to.... I dont have to prove I have nothing to hide, they have to prove I do....

No, I'd sooner the authorities actually gather credible evidence, get a viable suspect into custody and then apply for a court order to take a sample....

Or is a simple bit of legwork and investigation too much for most of these lazy coppers these days...?

time consuming that would only work if the suspect was visable, again i direct you to the two instances highlighted by 'panorama' where if it wasnt for dna, they might never have been caught and could easily have committed further murders.

as i see it, the sooner they 'get' the suspect, the better.

Well, frankly, if it IS time consuming then so be it, I would rather the cops take a bit of time to get things right rather than rush in and make mistakes or false assumptions... You would have us change the whole nature of our society where everyone is innocent until proven guilty, now we're all gonna be presumed guilty until we comply with having our DNA taken... I'm sorry, I find that unnacceptable in a supposedly "free" society which operates under the rule of law as opposed to the rule of the mob or the police....

eh? wheres the evidence that cops taking there time gets better results then dna?... there is NONE, dna has been PROVEN to be quicker and three times more accurate!

sorry, you are still flailing around trying to overcome the facts that dna technology results in three times as many convictions, the facts that the benefits far outweigh the negatives, that problem areas can easily be ironed out. bring it on.

And if someone fukks up on the database itself, and people's records get mixed up...?? You could be charged with 5 or 6 serial rapes or killings you had nothing to do with, and DONT say it couldn't happen, the examples of innocent people being given criminal records for crimes they didn't commit is fukkin' LEGION, and the only way it gets found out is when its too late and a person is denied a job because a CRB check comes up with a false positive...

Mistakes are far less likely to happen if the testing is done on an individual basis, after a viable suspect is in custody....

It's not worth the risk of an innocent person being banged up for something they didn't do. I think we've seen far too many examples of seemingly "flawless" science being misused to the detriment of innocent people....

round and round in circles...

you have cited nothing there that cant be addressed... double checks for eg... if in doubt take a second sample.

dna though will reduce the risk of an innocent person being banged up, and potentially will prevent further crime and lives!

NO science that the police use today is 'flawless', mistakes ARE being made, as dna is far more reliable id suggest yet again that its still a step foreward and the benefits far outweigh the negatives .

..And how long did it take for these folks to get their "criminal" records sorted out....?? Took bloody ages... The wheels of bureaucracy turn very slowly, and the State really hates to admit it when it makes a mistake....

The Home Office cant even keep track of a couple of thousand immigrant ex-cons, so I have no faith whatsoever that they can manage this effectively....

Bottom line - I dont trust them with this information at their disposal, I dont trust them to not misuse it, and this Govt are proven liars (as ALL Govts are...); and YOU cant address that fundamental issue with any argument you cite....

i do address your points...i just dont put the weight on them that you do... i see the negatives here as easily overcomable, which must be the way to go seeing as the advantages are proven to be huge. this is an aim worth fighting for to get right.

im not bothered if you trust the government or not, like ive already said, they are running the country like it or not. they aint perfect but youd be waiting until domesday for a perfect government. it aint gonna happen.

bottom line...the positives far outweigh your negatives.
