Well she may have had a massive success with writing Pure and Simple for Hear'say, but obv Wigwam with Alex James didnt set the chart alight (not even in the Me Me Me area let alone Fat Les!!!)

so did you like her records? is it good to have her back in the world of 'hip-hop-infused electro house' or should she stick to songwriting like Cathy Dennis???

And do not forget ‘Hey D.J. I Can’t Dance To That Music You Are Playing’ by ‘The Beatmasters’ that was an excellent track too. I cannot remember any of her records from her time in the ‘She Rockers’ (before legal problems forced her to drop the ‘P’), though I would not mind tracking some of these records down as they were supposed to be the ‘British female Beastie Boys’ and a better rap crew than the ‘Wee Papa Girl Rappers’.

 

Actually, Betty was a schoolboy crush of mine ‘back in the day’ alongside stars such as Nance Coolen, Vicky Perks and Laura Vasquez. Actually I have still got the cardboard cut out of her head that was used to promote the second album, though the actual album was donated to hospital radio way back in the mid 1990s. I kept hold of her video collection and I have still got the first album on vinyl somewhere in my house. I think it is in a box with albums by ‘the Cookie Crew’, ‘Bomb the Bass’, ‘Coldcut’ and ‘Eric and he Good Good Feeling’.

 

My favourite track of her's was the lead single from her second album released in 1992 Let Me Take You There when she had a more sexier image.

I liked the 'Hangover' video with the Wild West theme.

I guess those two records are more pop than hip-house, though it would be interesting to hear what she was like when she was ‘MC Betty Boop’ and doing harder edged rap material.

thats a sound reason and a most welcome one too... im personally favourable to singles, the commercial end of pop, and have ben since the beatles in the early 60's. im a sucker for the 3 minute pop song. my musical knowlege is long rather then deep, and i really didnt like the general flavour of pop music mid 80's to mid 90's and in consequence my knowlege of music even at the chart end is rather limited. :)

Do you also remember these two beauties from Holland? Simone Angel from ‘MTV Europe’/’Atomic Records’ dance single fame and Simone Walraven from that dubbed late night Dutch film that ‘Granada TV’ always used to show called ‘Donna Donna’.
