Posted September 9, 200717 yr Sean and his Beautiful Girls score a second week at the top American rapper Sean Kingston has achieved a second week at the top of the UK chart with ‘Beautiful Girls’. Though the single has not been the top download on iTunes for a while, the physicals kept him up hinting that there is still some life left in the format. The song which was No.1 on iTunes for most of the week was Plain White T’s with ‘Hey There Delilah’. The song jumped a spot to a new peak of No.2 this week after a month and a half in the top 10. It also propelled their new album ‘Every Second Counts’ into the chart at No.3. Last week’s No.2 ‘Stronger’ from Kanye West is down to No.3 on its 5th week in the top 3. Next up is James Blunt whose comeback single ‘1973’ has had its physical release this week and he jumps to No.4, not perhaps the huge selling No.1 chart watchers might have had in their mind when he announced his comeback. The highest new entry is Girls Aloud who score their 16th top 10 hit in a row with ‘Sexy! No, No, No’ at No.5, their last single ‘Walk This Way’ a duet with Sugababes hit No.1 earlier in the year. Rihanna falls a place to No.6 with ‘Shut Up & Drive’ while Robyn falls 3 places to No.7 with the former No.1 ‘With Every Heartbeat’. 50 Cent climbs back to the top 10 with new single ‘Ayo Technology’ while the American domination is further reduced this week by Scouting For Girls who jump 10 places to No.9 with their second single ‘She’s So Lovely’. Timbaland rounds off the top 10 with the former No.1 ‘The Way I Are’. There are 6 new/re-entries in the top 40 this week. Elvis continues his re-release series with ‘Teddybear’ which is in at No.14. Following his death earlier in the week Luciano Pavarotti’s signature song ‘Nessun Dorma’ re-enters at No.24 this week having been a huge hit in 1990 after its use in that year’s football world cup. Editors are in at No.27 with their second single the title track from their No.1 album ‘An End Has A Start’. Booty Luv score a third top 40 hit at No.31 with ‘Don’t Mess With My Man’, a cover of Lucy Pearl’s hit from 2000. The former Big Brovas duo of Nadia and Cherise have previously hit the top 10 with ‘Boogie 2Nite’ and Shine. Their debut album is released soon. Swedish trio Peter Bjorn and John’s minor hit from last year ‘Young Folks’ is reactivated and rightfully so as it is an infectious pop/folk song which arguably deserved more success. And rounding off the top 40 is a song that is nearing 300k in sales; The Fray’s ‘How To Save A Life’ is back in at No.40 after exposure on both the Big Brother final last week and a BBC advert. Climbers in the top 40 this week come from Reverend & The Makers (#30-#16), Armand Van Helden (#38-#19), whose biggest hit remains the 1999 No.1 ‘You Don’t Know Me’, Foo Fighters (#28-#23) and Hoosiers (#27-#26). Amy Winehouse stays at No.2 with the year’s biggest seller ‘Back To Black’ while Plain White T’s album is in at No.3. Other new entries in the top 40 come from Athlete (#5), Sean Kingston (#8), Proclaimers (#13), Pink Floyd (#22), Jamie Scott (#24) and Kate Rusby (#32). There are big albums out next week from Kanye West, 50 Cent, KT Tunstall and Natalie Imbruglia while Sean Kingston should stay at No.1 with ‘Beautiful Girls’ for a third week with no major single releases due out. However if his physicals drop any time soon, Plain White T’s may well score a No.1 single. Star Profile: Peter Bjorn and John Peter Bjorn and John are a Swedish indie rock band, formed in Stockholm in 1999. The current members are Peter Morén on vocals, guitar, and harmonica; Björn Yttling on vocals, bass and keyboards; and John Eriksson on drums, percussion, and vocals. They are best known for the 2006 single "Young Folks", which featured Victoria Bergsman, formerly of The Concretes, and was a top 40 hit in the UK Singles Chart. It was also named NME's second best track of 2006, beaten only by "Over and Over" by Hot Chip. In Australia it was voted number 16 in the annual Triple J Hottest 100 for 2006. Peter and Bjorn began playing music together when they got to know each other during high school. They shared an interest in bands such as The Stone Roses and Ride. Their first band disbanded after they moved to Stockholm, where they met John in 1999 to form Peter Bjorn and John. Their first gig was an unsuccessful one in a boat in Stockholm. Their expectations were not high from the start, as they "just wanted to make good music for [their] own amusement". The band originally incorporated commas into their name, but dropped them because they did not look good in the font on their first record. Lars Skoglund of the band Laakso has filled in for the band on drums and played bongos during some live shows. Their song ‘Young Folks’ won the Grammis Award for Best Video in 2007. Bio: Wikipedia
