Posted September 10, 200717 yr Snow Patrol Sued By Former Bassist http://www.xfm.co.uk/Article.asp?id=470861 Ex Snow Patrol member Mark McClelland is suing his former band claiming he’s due money they earned since his departure. Why do artistic differences always end in financial argument? Isn’t it all about the music man? Mark McClelland left Snow Patrol in 2005 citing "creative differences" with frontman Gary Lightbody as the reason for his departure, but had written numerous songs with the singer during the ten years her was in the band. According to the News Of The World, the bassist has filed suit which seeks a quarter stake in all the band's profits since he parted ways with the band (which include the no doubt massive earnings from 2006 album ‘Eyes Open’ as well as their fees for supporting U2 on their Vertigo tour and all manner of festival and area dates). An unnamed (quelle surprise) source told The News Of The World, "This'll get really messy unless they make a deal. Mark's deeply aggrieved and wants what he sees as his share. “When you consider the sort of success the band went on to enjoy, Mark's being advised his damages could run into the millions." http://images.radcity.net/5893/2034588.jpg
September 10, 200717 yr Well he was one of the founders of Snow Patrol but then they probably did a hell of a lot better without him. I don't think he should get anything. Snow Patrol made a fortune after he left. He is asking for his share of the money SP made WITHOUT him playing a part in the band. Surely he is still getting his share for Final Straw. I think SP should be glad that they got rid of that rat demanding money from them!
September 11, 200717 yr Hope not. How can he ask for his share in everything they did after he left!!!!!
September 12, 200717 yr Author He had nothing to do with Eyes Open so how can he claim money for something he wasn't apart of
September 12, 200717 yr Author Bassist Miffed After Getting Snow Patrolled By Mack Rawden: 2007-09-11 20:33:08 http://www.cinemablend.com/music/Bassist-M...olled-6310.html Mark McClelland is pissed. Unless you’re somehow related to him, you probably have no idea who the hell that is (and rightfully so), but for those of you keeping score at home, McClelland is the former bassist for Snow Patrol. Apparently, he left in 2005 right before “Chasing Cars” was played on the hour for about nine months. Somehow his brilliant strategy of exiting the group right before superstardom didn’t pad his wallet. Who would have thought? Of course, he’s now vengeful and seeking his share of the loot he didn’t rightfully earn. Money for nothing. It’s the American way. According to News Of The World, McClelland is seeking one-fourth of Snow Patrol’s cold hard cash. And why shouldn’t he? It’s hard work sitting on your ass and watching your former buddies amount to something. I should know. I was in the Jackson 5 before they got famous (I got the boot for using Jehovah’s Witness pamphlets to whip my ass). There’s no information on when this drivel will be thrown out of the British Courts, but I’ll make sure and keep you updated on this riveting tale every step of the way. Or I won’t. We’ll see what Miss Cleo’s fat ass tells me. http://www.cinemablend.com/images/sections/6310/6310.jpg
September 12, 200717 yr Author Yes well he is entitled to anything pre-Eyes Open but he is after the money that they got from Eyes Open aswell, and if he was to get it then that would be a huge shame for the legal system.
September 12, 200717 yr Surely if Snow Patrol get a very good lawyer, they could fight this case and make sure Mark doesn't get anything since he left! Eye's open made a hell of a lot more globally than Final Straw even though Final Straw is a better album :kink:
