Sort of. I saw them a few weeks ago at the Connect festival but they were just playing their old stuff. Their last album 'Man Made' was out on their own label last year.

Was it just a compilation before that album?

No, I don't think they've done a compilation since 'Deep Fried Fanclub'. Actually they are due a Greatest Hits album...

 

The album before 'Man Made' was 'Howdy!' which was pretty much a deal-splitter with Columbia.

I think the album was called ‘Poolside’, though this might be the record label instead.

Nah, their label is called PeMa.

Was ‘Poolside’ to do with the album before? As an alternative ‘Sony’ replacement for the ‘Creation’ label?

Never heard of it, they were always Columbia I thought...they joined Columbia at the same time as Super Furry Animals and half the old Creation roster.

 

Poolside might have been something they did with Jad Fair.

Sorry as I do not who that is.

 

However as for ‘Creation Records’ I thought that Sony were bankrolling that label for many years since the mid 1990s and in reality it became just another ‘fake indie’ in a way similar to Sleeper’s ‘Indolent Records’.
