well, I am praying it isnt Darius' recording studio or home gone up in smoke..just saw one of those stilts all that remained of one of those places on the hills out LA way on the news,

the fires do seem to be all the way down - how anyone lives out there is beyond me, its just a lottery what will get in the way of the fires every year! they seem to move very quickly, so dont harm the land much, but any wood framed building in their way is doomed. masses of people have been evacuated now.

It has been a tragic year with all the natural (if that's what you all them) disasters we have had. :(

It must be so frightening living out there at the moment I do hope the wind drops and they can get these fires under control.

well, its not a natural disaster..more like a natural occurance, a lot of plants can't reproduce without theses fires, and often land really benefits from these yearly fires.., some of the shrubs over there are filled with flammable oil which ignite in the hot weather and have evolved over millions of years to fit in with these fires..then along comes a human and builds a wooden building slap in the middle and then wonders why they are burnt down. I just hope Darius isnt too badly effected, I must say I wouldt even think about living around there.what with that fault and all as well!!!!

It seems the winds are abating now. I didn't realise that the firemen carry fireproof 'tents' to

shelter in should they be trapped by the fire.

I thought the same as you PIP when I saw it on tele, but it is Santiago the most hit, I seem to remember that Natashas house was in a canyon not that thats any help. It really does look bad.

So now they are saying the fires were caused by arsonists. How on earth can people

ever do that, and how can they live with themselves afterwards.I feel so sorry not only

for the families who have lost loved ones, but for the ones who have lost so much.

Houses can be rebuilt, clothing and furniture replaced, but personal mementoes -

photos, family heirlooms etc can never be replaced.

It so often seems to be arsonists these days. I do hope the can catch them.
some very odd poeple indeed. Hope they are caught.

With all that's bad in the world, it seems daft to make it worse. Against them, you have to think of the thousands of people who go out of their way each day to make life a little better for some one.

The dog has just been sick all over the dining area floor. I wonder if he felt left out?

But I do think it was O.T.T. to shoot the guy they found lighting a fire!

After all, he may have been mentally ill - guess he must have been !!!!!!

The latter. Thank goodness most of our police do not carry guns.

Sometimes I think our officers are at a terrible disadvantage against an ever increasingly violent minority and I begin to reluctantly think that they should carry guns, like the European police. We rarely hear reports of continental officers summarily dispatching offenders. Are the Americans as trigger happy as film and TV media indicate? I'd feel insecure in such a society.
