Britney Spears is reportedly in talks to play at this weekend's Emmy Awards to apologise to her fans for her show at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Spears' performance at the opening of the VMA ceremony was deemed an embarrassment by many critics and the singer apparently wants to make up for it by appearing at the TV awards bash.

A report from US Weekly claims the 'Toxic' singer has been "in negotiations" with Fox about the possibility of her attending the show on Sunday.

The source said: "The idea is to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs. She's weighing the offer."

Think that would be a great idea. Hopefully if she performs again at the Emmy's she'll do a much better job :D

I don't think it would be a good idea. She is best not speaking about the Vma's because it will make a bigger thing out of it.
Stupid idea. Just let it go.
She's got no reason to apologise  yes it was a below parr performance BUT it happens. We all need to move on, just forget it, and hope she comes back bigger and better than ever soon [well not too soon] :D
It's not like the fans were owed a great performance at the VMAs  So no reason to say sorry.

No Emmy appearance for Britney Spears

A representative for Britney Spears has insisted that the singer will not be making an appearance at the Emmy Awards.

Recent rumours suggested that Britney was planning to perform at the ceremony this weekend, in an attempt to put her MTV Video Music Awards "embarrassment" behind her.

However, a spokeswoman for the 'Toxic' singer said: "Britney Spears has no plans to appear on the Emmys this Sunday."

Britney's MTV performance was panned by critics earlier this week. BBC reporter David Willis claimed that it would "go down in the history books as being one of the worst to grace the MTV awards."

i'm glad she isn't going to apologize she doesn't need too in public like that, it will be humiliating its seems the emmys just wanted a chance to exploit her. the VMA's negativity had a small impact on gimme more's airplay it had a small dip but now its bullet has recovered and over 1000 again. the media and dj's may be slagging her off but they like the song, its such a strong comeback track maybe the strongest of the year overcoming all the bad attention.

Yeah, I think a performance at the Emmys would be kinda tacky. It should just be left alone. I really don't think she needs to apologize and perform again so soon after the VMAs. It's not like it was the worst performance ever. Some people just blow it way out of proportion.

I don't think the Emmys are for her anyways.
